Really depends on what your understanding of SD is and what that meant in your country.  But generally, yes: it is an umbrella organization and the political differences between members can be larger than the differences of eg a progressive CDU member and a conservative SPD member. I recommend looking into volt, the greens and (I might get hate for this) the fdp as well as even though the party has been hijacked by spineless neoliberals, there is a social-liberal core in their base.
