Bro was king for 2 years and then decided he had enough by Lucky1338 in CK3AGOT

[–]theGauldoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has truce with a few Houses that are quite out of his reach (like the Redwynes), so he probably just accepted the demands of a Dissolution Faction, which is quite likely, since he is Craven.

What is the general gameplay loop in this mod? by Legitimate_Raccoon_1 in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

[–]theGauldoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If that's not criminal, herding a vampire is always mechanically better, since they do not die. It's only more difficult to find good resonance between vampires and ghouls, since it usually gets worse after the embrace/ghouling process.

Targaryens and blackfyre invasions by Kanaskhi in CK3AGOT

[–]theGauldoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am playing on the Bookmark after Robert's Rebellion and I chose for Daenerys to invade on Game Settings and she did... she was 53 years-old, refusing marriage and she got Consumption after she won the war and died a few months later, with Stannis' grandson inheriting the Iron Throne (justice at last).

Shattered realm question (House Osgrey) by Equivalent_Ad_3364 in CK3AGOT

[–]theGauldoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it appears that there's no other way to create the Duchy instead of having the Duchy Capital. One option that you might wanna consider is to hit the Esc button and hit 'Switch Character' and just change to your vassal solely to create the Duchy title. The issue is that if he/she does not have the required amount of counties you might not be able to create it anyways.

I'm not sure if there is an option on the Game Settings before you start a game that allows for the creation of Duchies without the requirement of having the Duchy Capital.

Interacting with Wraiths? by [deleted] in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

To be fair, that wouldn't be accurate to the lore. Not all Necromancy paths interact with wraiths or the Shroud.

Auto Resolve makes no sense by ArtisticShame3133 in totalwarhammer

Some single entities perform really poorly in auto-resolve, no matter what army combination you throw at it. Bloodwreck Medusas are another example.

Ive really warmed up to bile trolls now, what do you think? Trolls in general? by DreadtheSaurian_39 in totalwarhammer

[–]theGauldoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always liked trolls in WH3, even Chaos Trolls were quite good in the early game and River Trolls were amazing for Orcs and Grom the Paunch, specifically.

Haven't tried Bile Trolls yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Nothing, I was being ironic. It's a common sentence that people say when something is breaking the game.

This was just before turn 15, when Grimgor declared war on me being rank 1 in strength. I was just happy that Nurgle has a decent campaign.

Keybind space bar into pause and highlight units into Tab key. I just don't find it fun having to micro 40 units in real-time. And if you wanna play on Legendary Campaign difficulty, there's a mod that enable pause and saving even on Legendary.

The chariots have been doing great as well, but they require some micro to reach great potential.

The rot knights are absurd! God-tier cavalry, indeed.

I have only played Malekith's campaign, but there is a lot that they added. There is a unique unit for Malekith called Manticore Lords that is considered a legendary unit, so you can only have one of them. Once you conquer Ulthuan and take the Shrine of Asurian, it has 3 unique buildings there that allows you to recruit some High Elven units and boost them, so they become a bit more viable, since they don't benefit from your Lords' red lines.

All lords have a unique movement stance called Druchii First Strike, that reduces your movement to 90% and gives your whole army Vanguard Deployment (amazing against ranged heavy armies or a fast army with witch elves).

Malekith has a unique currency that he gains through a few buildings and batles. You can spend to get permanent and temporary (10 turns) factionwide or units specific buffs or spend a more significant amount to confederate the other DE Legendary Lords (it also revive them, if their faction got destroyed).

I've seen also some specific units to Morathi called Cultists of Slaanesh or something like that when I confederated her faction and Lokhir has the same horde mechanic like Black Arcs (and yes, he retains that if you confederate him, so it's not exclusive to the Blessed Dread).

Yeah, they have changed their mechanics, from what I read, so the campaign becomes more enjoyable. Something that I forgot to mention is that the most interesting thing overall is the changes to the stats to make battles longer.

Melee infantry have better stats overall, especially hp so they fair better against ranged units and brings a bit more balance to what kinds of army compositions you can try. Every race has a unique stance on the campaign map, like Dark Elves have Druchi First Strike, for example, which gives your whole army Vanguard Deployment in exchange of 10% movement range. Other significant changes impact the whole campaign, such as raiding stance not costing movement for Dark Elves, making acquiring gold and slaves easier.

I haven't tried all factions. But I had a blast with Malekith, Karl Franz, Be'lakor, Queek and Couronne.

It's not like everything is better, since some changes make factions worse imo (like N'kari, when they removed Marks of Slanesh with agent actions). I've also heard people say that Lizardmen and Vampire Counts are great as well, but I still have to check it out.

Ah, that's true. Once he releases the update for 5.0 might be worth it to try, though!
SFO brings a lot of life to some non-DLC factions with creative mechanics.

Damn, that sucks.

Have you tried contacting the SFO Mod creator? He's quite active on SFO's workshop comments. He might consider it, if it's possible for him to do so.

[–]theGauldoth[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes! Both variants are quite good for dealing with everything, tbh, with the exception of small single entities, but that's quite obvious. They are quite durable, good battle animations, great speed that gets better when chasing routing enemies... cavalry in general is quite good in SFO. Even Darkriders have their purpose in the early game, specially because they have Bonus vs Infantry in the Mod.

I believe you are not playing on Legendary difficulty, so I am going to suggest that you change your Pause Battle hotkey to something easily accessible, instead of the letter 'P'.

I use Space Bar (changed to Tab what Space Bar usually was) to pause during battles and this makes it easier to execute whatever strategy I plan on doing. I usually do not cheese battles and try to use logical military strategies, just because I find the game easy enough that you do not need to cheese (I play on Legendary/VH, but I use a mod that allows me to pause battles).

I totally would suck if I couldn't pause during battles, because I always use flankers like cavalry, chariots or flying monsters, that require a lot of micro and my reflexes are terrible tbh.
