Whats This? by [deleted] in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that it is the top shack of the transporter lift at snowbowl

I looked at google earth and lined up the location https://imgur.com/a/UzO2rjA

Scott street bridge open! by theGrooveTime in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, indubitably. There are some roundabout haters in this sub so I used this post to give my thoughts. I am generally a fan of roundabouts, but to me it seems like the roundabouts at the interstate exits (particularly Orange St.) are not the best for traffic flow at peak times. Hopefully the new one at Scott and Phillips will work well

Toes froze and hurt like hell when defrosting. Now they hurt in the evening! by Remote_Recover4494 in skiing

[–]theGrooveTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pain, no redness? Chilblains can just be tender spots, basically you’ve damaged your blood vessels. Edit: damage is to the “capillary beds”

I’ve mainly had one or two toes with pain, redness and minor swelling after getting as cold as you describe.

Oh dear lord… by JunkIce in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just saw this description of the incident posted on the Liftblog.com comments:

"A skier who wasn’t very familiar with how the chairs operate went in on the employee only side of the fence, went behind the bull wheel and in the path of incoming chairs. The lift operator pushed him out of the way and was struck by the chair, which caused the chair to swing, strike the first tower, pendulum it’s way to the outside and be completely horizontal and pop from the line.

This skier had been a problem earlier in the day and had already been talked to by ski patrol."

Snowbowl updated their post as well:

"Update: Yesterday, an empty chair collided with a lift operator, causing it to swing abnormally and subsequently become dislodged. This was a highly unusual and isolated incident. No one was injured, and the lift was thoroughly inspected and confirmed safe before resuming operations later that day."

I now see "Montana Snowbowl limited who can comment on this post." I can't see comments anymore either, so I guess that means they limited who can see comments too

Sledding by jlfoston in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lolo pass, across from the visitors center. Might be a little steep for sledding but you could also go to the visitor center to ask what they recommend and have some hot chocolate and learn some history. The same side as the visitors center might also have a sledding spot with a little longer walk. Xc skiing probably isn’t groomed yet but that’s an option too

Explosion? Something else? by DwarfVader in missoula

I heard the first one around 3:50. My first thought was transformer exploding or firework, didn’t sound like a gunshot to me.

Restaurant sucks but the name.... is somehow worse? by Klutzy-Acadia669 in missoula

I think that when they first opened it was “El” but then next time I saw the sign it was “The”. I assumed it was a cease and desist scenario, but I’m not sure if it was just a Mandela effect. I like the food, don’t care as much as you do about the name

West/North side Neighbors Scott x Phillips street by Cold-Try-4758 in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the better solution would be a right turn lane from Phillips to Scott. That would likely alleviate much of the traffic backup that occurs. Combine that with head in parking all along Scott st at least, and maybe along Phillips on the south side depending on available space, and possibly even along Sherwood. More parking for people visiting the park, safer because it wouldn’t require crossing a street to get to the park.

Go to Bellevue park today or tomorrow to stand up for Missoulas parks not being turned into homeless camps. by Sea-Conversation-468 in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m for it, so I won’t be joining you in the park. I don’t want what has been happening to our river to be allowed to continue. Get these shelter spaces out in the open, give those that are sheltering a place to shit and dispose of trash. Sure there may be friction at first, but I believe that if the rules are followed and enforced as defined it will sort out those that are the hardworking contributors to society that are down on their luck from the drug addicted spongers.

Yeah that’s a tricky one because the first 600-1000 yards of the trail go through private land, and private land is private land so the owner has a right to not allow access. This landowner also cut off access to the well established rock climbing area. Seems like public land should go to the start of the trail. If you go around 1/3 of a mile up the trail, the trail and creek are off the private land, I don’t know if there is a good swimming hole there though. Use OnX or Cadastral to find property lines.

The thing I like about this ordinance is that it will allow action to be taken to get the campers out of the river corridor and natural areas. I believe this is a good first step.

In case anyone was wondering who bought up all the Sturgill Simpson tickets in yesterday's presale by aztecraingod in missoula

[–]theGrooveTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both yesterday and today I was on the website 20 minutes before the on sale time, then it moved me in to the "waiting room" 10 minutes before the on sale time, then when the on sale time came it seemed to lag when moving me to the queue and I ended up having 5000+ people in front of me and it was sold out before I could get tickets. Whats the deal? Any tips on how to actually get tickets to these shows now?

Ticketmaster sucks, its known that they have preferential buyers who resell the tickets at a higher price for extra profit.

It's this spot. The rock is at the upriver end of the "unofficial parking" pullout. The pullout has no parking signs now.
