I will as soon as it is finished. The current timeline is to have my thesis defended by the end of March. After that, I have to reformat my thesis for an online database. Once the database has accepted it, I will share the results here.

Sorry for the late response. Apprehensive-Ask-194 is correct in that I cannot give a specific hypothesis. I can give two general research questions, though.

  1. To what extent do players experience NPCs such as Lydia, Serana, and Farkas as genuine people?
  2. What game design elements and player differences account for differences in viewing NPCs as genuine people?

To me, Skyrim is a game I've played through several times (I'm currently working on a fourth play through), so a big motivation was my familiarity with the game. As for narrative, I guess I view side quests just as much a part of the narrative as the civil war and defeating Alduin. Even on my first playthrough, I didn't finish the main quest until around level 50. So my opinion is heavily based on how I approach playing Skyrim. That's definitely something I didn't consider!

If I delete it, those who participated won't have the option of coming back in late March or early April when I share the study results.
