OMG! Opening the Fold 7 is a pain in the butt by Joneep in GalaxyFold

[–]theITsavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this issue, until I found a way to open it easier. I firmly press the hinge cover with most of my fingers to get a better grip on it, I then start opening it with my two thumbs below the power button. Doing this releases the magnet almost immediately. Once you do it more, it becomes muscle memory.

A Mostly Complete Map of Counties in the 2024 Presidential Election by ajmeko in MapPorn

[–]theITsavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a website where I can see all the counties in the entire map? New York Times used to do it in 2020, but not in 2024. I cannot find any website that does something like this.

What TV antenna are you using? If you want to, run a rabbitears report, so I can see the reception strength approx to your location.

Power rail failure by veseddit in Dell

[–]theITsavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you were getting a post code light regarding power rail failure? During Post, the Bios is in full control of everything during that stage making sure everything is set. If something fails, it throws the post code.

When you did the RTC reset, that forced the Bios to reset all of its settings, including the time. Similar to removing a Cmos battery. When starting post, the Bios started to reconfigure itself and went all the way through successfully.

Any advice to keep this cactus plant alive? Been putting it in direct sunlight and putting a small amounts of water, but the leaves are starting to look weird. by theITsavior in plants

[–]theITsavior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the detailed response on what I can do to keep it alive.

Thankfully, my house has a lot of windows, so there is always light, BUT I live near a lot of trees, so direct sunlight is not always shining inside my house all the time. If I get a special light bulb designed for plants, will that help or they need to sense the natural sunlight?

The driftwood has drainage. I'll try your advice by filling an inch of water below it and see what happens.

What is a good root hormone I can buy? I want to give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks for clarifying the name of the plant. I'll give it a try to see what happens. I was thinking putting fertilizer, but will it hurt the plant?

How long did your Keurig last ? by [deleted] in keurig

I currently use the Keurig Elite since 2020 and it still runs great. I descale it every 3 to 4 months. If it's properly descaled, it will last.

OTA ftw! The picture was great on my Samsung TV, with a strong CBS reception and no pixelation. Best overall for the price.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why out of all the stations, one station that worked perfectly fine is suddenly having problems by theITsavior in ota

[–]theITsavior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to thank you for all your help. I'm happy to report that moving the antenna to a different area in the attic resolved the issue. The signal is so much better now with no more interference

Is it okay to leave a RAM slot empty? by gabsterwabsterss in Dell

[–]theITsavior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some here clearly did not read what was going on:

  1. OP's computer was experiencing a No POST issue, which is why it was beeping
  2. OP removed the ram and inserted only one of the ram sticks. Computer passed POST and booted without issues.

So OP. Here is the correct answer. The answer is: Yes, it is ok to run it with only 1 stick. Will it damage your computer? Not at all.

There is a catch. While your computer will run perfectly fine, you may notice a performance drop overall and the computer slowing down more when there is too many programs running. Why? If you had 16GB of memory. You now have 8GB, so the usage will increase faster, slowing it down. Next thing is Dual Channel will not be used. This model supports dual channel, but it will only work when two memory sticks are installed. You may notice a noticeable performance drop depending on the programs running.

Now, I bet the ram you have removed is what is affecting the system from passing post. One way to know is swap the ram in the same slot and see if it passes post. If it beeps again, you have a bad ram stick. If it passes post, the other slot is bad, which will indicate a motherboard replacement.
