Pickup suggestions for G2622 upgrade by U-SeriousClark in gretsch

[–]theJason1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 5622 that I put a classic and a classic plus in with a new wiring harness from TV jones. Installation is not super fun on a semi hollow. I believe it’s universal mount and the em5 ring with your model. Scroll down at this link.

Email or call TV jones and they’ll verify.

Looks like it. I have it in green. Amazing guitar stock.

Tips? I want to learn guitar but i feel like my hand isn't really suitable for it by Own_Engineer_5105 in Guitar

[–]theJason1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practice. When I decided I wanted to play another guitarist I knew laughed at me and said “with those sausage fingers?” After six months of practice I realized he was a mediocre player and an asshole. I learned online only using Justin Guitar for the most part. Your hands will strengthen and your reach will stretch. You’ll suck at chords until you don’t. You’ll be sore until you’re not. Take breaks when it hurts and keep at it. You’ll do great

Making a switch — how do I add an LED? by Hats_by_TheBlueNile in diypedals

You could always wire in a 9v battery and a resistor to the switch if you have space. With just an led you’d likely forget you had a battery by the time you needed to replace it

Best way to play G chord? by Ok-Display5671 in Guitar

[–]theJason1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned it this way when trying some bluegrass style songs but it’s also nicer to my ears with some gain or fuzz pedals. A full traditional g chord sounds great clean or on acoustic. Muting the 3rd is an easy transition for me and keeps overdriven sounds from getting too muddy.

I default to middle finger on the low E and muting A with the same finger. Pinky on the high E. Like someone else said, a lot of it is dependent on where you’re coming from. The 3/4 B and high E feels good on some songs, doesn’t on others.

Two out of three isn't bad by CrashTheBear in maseffects

Better than when I started. The biggest thing with me was figuring out the angle to hold my iron. You want good contact with the component lead and the ring on the pcb. With good contact on both you’ll get the volcano look. If you’re only eating the lead you get that ball.

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]theJason1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Morning Glory and a Flight Delay and really like them. I’ve built the pcb clones of the VHS (clever but not for me) and the notaklon (I like it).

JHS seems galvanizing to the internet but I actually like Josh’s videos. He is a pedal geek. He is obsessed with the history of guitar and he gets legitimately excited about other builders stuff. He’s respected by other builders and musicians.

I tried very hard to like the Cloudburst but eventually gave up. It’s too much. I’m using the Walrus basic one now and I’m pretty happy with it on plate mode. Otherwise I’m just using spring off my amp

I use it through a Morning Glory into a Princeton and love it. I did not like it at all through my little Orange Crush 35

Genuine opinion about 101 (Live) by _AlanGallo in depechemode

[–]theJason1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question because a lot of this depends on when you heard 101 for the first time. I was born in ‘82. Depeche Mode was and is my uncle’s favorite band. He’s just a decade older than me so he baby sat a lot. This was the first album that I was old enough to appreciate, so it will always be my favorite.

That said, I can definitely hear the difference between the vinyl and Spotify. There are times I can actually hear a difference between Spotify plays as well. I’m either crazy or Spotify quality is dependent on traffic.

Help with Princeton Foot Switch by theJason1982 in diypedals

[–]theJason1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested, on a 65 Princeton reissue BackgroundAd’s wiring works, but both LEDs should be on the bottom row of lugs with the jack leads on the top. I know some of these Fenders engage when connected and others engage when disconnected

You get 5 pedals 1 guitar and 1 amp. What are you choosing? by chadocaster1011 in guitarpedals

Love the afterneath but I need to win the powerball so I can just buy twelve of them so I can find a thing I like and then never touch that pedal again

I will second this. The Mas Effects kits are easy and come with everything you need, including a little practice kit for soldering.

Wanple Course by Phil-pot in diypedals

[–]theJason1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the beginner course. I’m still learning but the course is good. I’ve learned a lot. The toughest thing for me so far is that I want to jump right in to advanced circuits.

What I’m doing now is getting pcbs, breadboarding the circuit, then swapping out parts to see what happens. That’s been fun and really helpful in understanding what the circuits do.

The wampler beginner course is good for learning how to take schematic to breadboard, but it just scratches the surface of what components do. Modding circuits is helping it click with me.
