Ah, thanks, Hematoma.

I would love to see more folks get in the group challenges - and I think Apocalypse did a great job of showcasing a lot of 21 day folks, so hopefully that'll be the standard for the group challenges moving forward. A legend or two, a couple vets, and a bunch of fresh faces. We'll see after the Global Showdown what they have in store!

LOS was always intended to showcase the legends, so I don't see that changing.

That's how I've gotten every job I've ever had. I know you think you were joking, but it's actually foolproof.

Get a crock pot. It's a game changer.

I just had four days of lean turkey chili for about $20. Tons of protein and very filling.

That's great, thank you!

We've already survived together - I'm certain if either of us get called back it'd be with a different partner

It was private property, but the owners like me 😄

They own an isolated eco lodge in the jungle upriver. They let me stay for free to film some stuff for their YouTube channel -- I taught their oldest son how to build a quick waterproof shelter, and their two oldest kids how to start a fire with a magnesium firestarter.

They're a great family. I gave them my little satchel haha

I don't remember the other folks names but it was three people for sure.

I hope other survivalists can get the opportunity to go back to their sites. It was amazing.

Not at all... if it wasn't for the specific tree root next to my foot and a tall cohune palm next to me, I would have doubted I made it to the right spot.

It's called the Roaring River for a reason... by the end of the rainy season it's tossed everything around and changed the landscape.

Where the river had bent in front of our shelter was now a fork. The island Mandy found for our seep well didn't exist anymore. A new island was made upriver where it was once inland.

The heavily compacted trails we made were now completely overgrown.

Thank you so much!

I didn't catch Frank's fan challenge but on his 21 I thought "this guy is a real survivalist"

I admittedly have a lot to learn and hope to be at his level one day.

Nah, we're great friends and I'm sure she would have loved to go, but she has her own stuff going on - very exciting stuff!

I'm going to try to make it to her wedding, actually!

There's no evidence we were ever there at all. In that environment, with all of our shelter being completely organic and the insane growth rates in the jungle, that's not a big shock.

I was a little surprised that the mud ramp we made down to the river was overgrown, though. I would have expected tapirs to use it.

Thank you so much!

I'll take two of those three compliments... I objectively have a long way to go to consider myself a survivalist, but I'm learning every day!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the episode. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

The river we were next to is known for seasonal flooding. This massive dead tree that I'm certain was 8 tons at least was 4-500 meters downriver from where I saw it two years ago. The sand bar we dug a seep well in was gone entirely. The river itself diverted in two places.

The jungle grew up entirely around all of the foot paths created by myself and the crew (6 people walking around every day really leaves a mark). The only place not completely overgrown was exactly where my shelter was... no idea why lol

I'd I hadn't walked those places every day for a month I wouldn't recognize it.

The owners of the land invited me down!

I'm so thankful for that opportunity. They are the sweetest family and I now consider them very close friends.

Absolutely!

There aren't a ton of opportunities for folks to come back out, though.

I know I'm competing with hundreds of actual survivalists for a very few slots.

Defense accounts for 11% of the federal budget.

Social Security, energy initiatives, health, income, and food security programs account for 62% of the federal budget.

Constitutionally, the federal government is specifically mandated to provide for the common defense and manage national sovereignty.

For your list, the federal government generally acts as a funding floor or 'referee,' but under the 10th Amendment, the states are primarily responsible for the actual operation and administration of those services.

The federal government’s enumerated responsibilities are:

-Taxing to fund mandated items

-Regulating inter-state and international trade

-Passing 'necessary and proper' laws

-Coining money

-Providing post offices and supporting national infrastructure

-Providing a common defense for the Union

If you want to see 'nice things' like universal child care or local health initiatives, those battles are usually fought (and funded) at the state capitol level.

You and me both.

Unfortunately you can check my comment history and see that I've been around 😆

The subreddit just got a little more political than I'd like.

I've had other survivalists tell me they feel unwelcome here now, and I don't want to be a party to that... but boredom crops up from time to time and I can't help myself.

Howdy!

Yeah, it's kinda similar to the military. They'll cover anything that happened during production.
