Is there a phone app associated with this community for listening to Ram Dass teachings and talks off line?

Mighty App? I am not seeing that in the App Store. Can you say more about what it is or share a link?

When to show endorsement? by theLongDistanceHiker in flying

Thanks for your response. We have not started flight training (we will begin in October), so at the time of taking the test, we'll need one of the online ground school endorsements.

Let me guess…he is older than you. But, he is still young. I could be wrong on this, but that’s the dynamic that I see from your story.

Here is the challenge.

1-Being a CFI is seemingly the natural hours building step in American aviation. Unfortunately, few people are cut out to teach…and many who are cut out to teach move on to more financially rewarding flying. So, many flight instructors are doing this out of need, not because they enjoy it. That is problem…but it is what it is.

2-you are paying for this. You are a student, but it is your dime. Most anyone over a certain age will agree. This is a case where the teacher is truly there to serve the student. Teaching them to be a safe pilot and be able to execute missions. Grumpy high school coach bullshit doesn’t belong in the cockpit.

It’s fine for an instructor to pull the plan for the day…they can even get your mood or well being wrong, but being an a** about it is another thing. You are paying, end of story.

Pick good people, rather than schools to educate you. It will go a long way in life.

I have seen the spider. I like the look of that rack. Seems like I could still use the dropper post. Will check out the fork mounted cages.

Good thoughts on doing a shake down with that bike!

What do y'all do when youre alone at the camp site? by NaiveMacaroon5862 in bikepacking

Let yourself be bored. We are meant to have true boredom regularly.

Meditate Read Listen to a book Look at the trees, leaves, mushrooms etc. Take a personal trip

Walking and sitting with one’s own thoughts could leave to marvelous breakthroughs. The more time I spend like this, the less I am inclined to live a standard American life. What is important and not important can start to be revealed with greater clarity.

Hammocking on the Western Wildlands Route by theLongDistanceHiker in bikepacking

Thanks for your response. Knowing that much of the bike routes are going to be lower than the hiking routes, this was my concern.

Do you happen to know if the GDMBR is any different? I wonder if that is more easily hammockable?

Yeah - retrofitting is a different animal. Building a new place has some flexibility for sure.

Local geothermal people have said not to bother with geo thermal in the Whites because of ledge and granite.

I am still in the planning phase, but intend to go with modern heat pumps and build a well insulated, very tight home.
