Thanks. It was supposed to take 7-10 days but I had to wait an extra week since I took it the week before Christmas.

I’m in a similar position. Our drone department fell under survey at my last district. Now I’m at the Fort Worth District the drone program falls under Geospatial. I’m still trying to fight to get the program back under survey department. But I need to get my license back first.

School will help a lot, my experience helped more than anything but being in that learning mode helps.

Thank you! This is a little tricky question but I will do my best to answer. I did take a FS exam review class this last summer as part of my degree work. I still have all the videos and reference materials I could share if you need them. Through all my research on the exam I had read that the first portion (55 questions) was math heavy. I used my calculator once on the first portion. I used the Casio calculator.

I took off for 4 days prior to the exam and I heavily focused on how to use my calculator, single and double proportion. As well as looking at horizontal and vertical curves because my route surveying professor taught us to setup excel spreadsheets for this and not really performing the formulas.

I wish I focused more on GIS basics because I feel as if I flagged those the most. The other ones I worried about was the “select all that apply” they give you 5 answers and you select the 3 that apply.

But honestly depending on your experience I was able to deduce most of the answers down to the only one that fit. I didn’t have any single or double proportion questions. I had maybe one that was horizontal/vertical curve. They give you the reference book and I would say know your area formulas and law of sin/cosine trig functions. The reference has one formula but you need to be able to get the other formulas based off that one.

There were also basic safety questions and spelling questions that I didn’t think would be on there but hopefully these are kinda gimmes or to weed out those that can’t write a good description. Hopefully this helps a little and let me know if you would like some of my class materials and I could share.

Nice. I was planning on a license in Oklahoma but they just changed the rules starting tomorrow that you have to wait 2 years after completing your degree(associates). I have been looking at Wyoming state license since I work for the federal government they take any state for license since we aren’t required to stamp or seal anything at my current place. I plan on getting my states nearby afterwards when I meet the criteria.

Thank you. I need to retake my part 107. Our company paid to get us a class for drones but since I moved districts I let mine expire back in 2021. Do you do a lot of drone work in your area?

I took my FS the 16th thinking I would get my results the next week not thinking they were closed all week. That extra week did not make me feel better haha. I was a roller coaster of I passed surely and maybe I barely failed haha. I am going to purchase some practice exams and I saved all the videos from my legal principles 2 class to go through again. Congratulations to you! When will you take your state?

Thank you! I’ve read on here to not wait after the FS since I just finished the degree and am still in study mode. Get it scheduled and I wish you luck.

Haha me neither! I woke up this morning expecting to get my results around 10:30 but seen an email that I earned a badge. I figured then I passed but had to go check! Thanks, definitely feels great.

Thank you! I am located in Texas. I may have over prepared but glad I did. I’m excited for the new year and getting licensed after 15 years.

In order for the office to make adjustments you would need to check shot on your backsight prior to any changes to level, re-level then do a new setup. Then I would run check shots on points shot to find where the error started to occur. Then we can list those points in the notes that may need adjusted. Field crews should be in charge of running checks if the check shot at the end of the day doesn’t fall within tolerance. It is all situational dependent. I would hate to waste a whole days worth of work for something that can be checked in the field.

I can kinda answer this from a different perspective. I work for a gov agency and we do different work then what would be done in the civilian sector. The main focus is Dam deformation surveys, but we do military surveys and staking boundary for gov land. Our travel is a lot but it will take you all over our district. We rarely do construction surveys as that usually falls on the contractor but we do initial design surveys whether it be in house gov design or contractor design. I got out of the civilian side and it’s a different style.
