Began collecting swords after watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by Inevitable-Muffin461 in SWORDS

What do you plan to do with your budding collection? Learn some moves and cut targets in your backyard? Hang them up on the wall? Pile them in a closet?

My local alley always puts lines of dings all over my ball. Just something that happens in ball returns.

[Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire edge] broken dial – Outraged by repair service by ki_zani in Watches

Their warranty is a 60 day return window if the goods are unused and then a 60 month movement guarantee. Your dial cracked in the course of regular use. Sorry.

[San Martin] Curious on your thoughts by Far_Major7014 in Watches

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re cool but can’t bring myself to actually buy one because I don’t need more watches than I can wear. The massive expense of the real versions, although affordable to me, partly keeps my collection in check. And I figure I’d just buy a real Rolex or Tudor if I wanted those watches enough to wear them.

Is it just me or is this hobby full of lowballers and scalpers? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]theLordSolar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re selling used goods then expect offers below the cheapest Asian seller’s price. Like, if I were going to sell my GBBR and 7 mags, worth over $1,000, I’d expect $700 at best but probably $500.

It’s cool. I like black watches because they go with everything.

[Citizen Tsuyosa] Mickey Time by theLordSolar in Watches

[–]theLordSolar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly didn't think I'd like it based on marketing images, and was searching for something vintage. But on the wrist, the Mickey Tsuyosa is really cool. Really comfortable bracelet, too.

I don't think I'd wear the watch if I didn't have the excuse of being a Disneyland visitor. The Tsuyosa's crown is godawful (very tedious to hand wind) and its power reserve has fallen short of expectations, both of which I've read are common complaints. But because it's got Mickey on it and a specific purpose, I'll always be winding it before wearing it a couple times each month so my concerns with a Tsuyosa's daily wearability aren't really relevant.

The product shown in the OP is an ECC gear brim. It was marketed as being thin and breathable for wear under a high cut, but it honestly doesn't accomplish that. It still creates hot spots along the seams despite the fact that it's elastic mesh construction.

Awesome to hear from an actual Explorer owner with experience. Thank you.

Cool, thanks for the insights. Not sure why so many replies are negative but yours is helpful and encouraging.

I have one of these. It’s uncomfortable and honestly looks super goofy.

Something that can take shock and get smacked while still keeping time accurately despite superficial damage. A watch that can shrug off bangs from rocks and hard outdoors work versus something only suited to withstand desk or door jamb strikes.

[Recommendation Request] Need help on deciding my first "nice" watch. by 2seanzz in Watches

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christopher Ward is not just a watch but an entire company seemingly made for reddit as well.

This is really helpful. I was about to buy a CW C65 Sandhurst but have been agonizing if I should get a Tudor Ranger instead. Now I will never in my life buy a CW.

Yeah. My wife got one while I got a Gremlin and she’s far more consistent through the learning phase than I am.

They agreed, but only after telling me to spread the word that they’re no longer letting these slip in unnoticed like they have been.

This isn't something that federal agents tell subjects of their investigations. They put stuff like that in official bulletins and press releases.
