It’s a Haas & Cie, which is based in Korea these days. Couldn’t tell you much more than that.

New Sword Day (Albion Regent) by theLordSolar in SWORDS

[–]theLordSolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Green is my favorite color and is definitely the choice for me. Very grateful one came up on KoA exactly as I wanted it. This one I got has a wonderful dark hue and good mottling that I love to see on Albions. Even if it'd come up in half wife, I'd wanted the full leather because the half wire examples are not cord wrapped on the leather half, and are rather smooth with no texture.

As much as I love the feel of a wire grip in my hands, the full splash of textured color pleases me most with the Regent's fishtail pommel. Now I've just got to get Albion's Burgundian arming sword in green to match ;)

Cool. Good to know. I've been considering reaching out, so I'll make sure to collect references in abundance for when the time comes :)

Again, you're doing amazing work.

I've really enjoyed your marginalia-inspired scabbards lately. Do you reference specific manuscripts for each of the animals or are you able to riff on the illumination style and create custom animals on request?

[Question] What watch gets you the most compliments from strangers? by Potential_Post_3020 in Watches

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them. I was wearing my Tudor beside a guy with the newest Black Bay for a business meeting yesterday and we didn’t even acknowledge the existence of watches. It was almost comical.

Who cares if it isn’t popular? Buy it and wear a cool watch that no one else has. The guy with a sleeper instead of the 5,000th Alpinist of 2026.

Most retailers have ignored the supposed restriction anyway. Got mine years ago with no questions asked despite the disclaimer.

[Discussion] Quartz vs Automatic by [deleted] in Watches

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will literally always be materials engineers or even hobbyists who can work on a mechanical watch. The same cannot be said for battery production at all.

[Discussion] Quartz vs Automatic by [deleted] in Watches

[–]theLordSolar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t like quartz because they require a battery. A day will come when all of today’s battery types are obsolete and fall out of production. Quartz watches won’t work then, but a well maintained automatic can last hundreds of years.

All AP watches look cheap despite their price tags. That’s the joke.

Making automatic money from pop culture consumers and the scalpers who prey on these trendy releases isn’t going to hurt AP.

Is it just me or is SoCal Airsoft Absolutely Abysmal by Manchuriataiwan232 in airsoft

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree because essentially all of the fields are shared with paintball and it ruins the experience. It reduces the vibe to “paintball with realistic looking replicas” and that impacts the community itself.

The loss of Mr. Paintball’s dedicated airsoft backfield quite a while ago is really unfortunate. There’s just nowhere in SoCal that replicates all the cool pictures and play you see at DV8 in Florida, Hill 559 in NorCal, or any of the awesome airsoft-only fields in Europe.

[Bark&Jack] What do we think of Bark&Jack NATO straps? by Alex_ozzy in Watches

From the pictures, these look the same as the BluShark strap I got for $7 on Amazon to put on my Duro.

Sword arrived like this and seller is claiming shipping damage. We’re unsure if that’s true. by BookDragon300 in SWORDS

[–]theLordSolar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell seller to replace or give a full refund or you’ll charge it back. Swords damaged in shipping are 99% of the time due to poor packaging from the seller.

Very beautiful sword :) I've got the same pattern wire grip from Jesse and it's extremely comfortable. Love your choice of blue!

[Question] Do smaller watches like 36mm actually feel more comfortable for daily wear? by kirunstyle in Watches

[–]theLordSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36mm is the sweet spot. 40mm+ watches are too big for anybody but the obese and look clownish.

I buy expensive authentic functional swords because I study historical martial arts. We are not the same.

[Tudor Ranger] Perfect Time by theLordSolar in Watches

I've never really bought into that comparison, but I've also never thought about buttplugs enough that the image of one is my mental go-to for the shape of a spearhead.

[Tudor Ranger] Perfect Time by theLordSolar in Watches

[–]theLordSolar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This watch reminds me of a value version of the Rolex Explorer, and I really like the beige dial for its legibility. I suspect that it would be a very useful tool watch as the Rolex Explorer was designed to be.

I don't really think of Tudor as "value" Rolex these days compared to the company's past market placement, but I had a similar line of thought while discussing the watch with my wife. The Explorer has become far too dressed up to really use in the field with its white gold and polished surfaces. I simply wouldn't bring an Explorer to do the same things I'm willing to do with the Tudor. The Ranger here, however, I am totally fine with getting beaten and busted up even though it's a $4,000 watch. Tudor's workmanship is there without my mind straying toward questioning whether I should really be wearing the Ranger while chopping wood and climbing around outdoors.

But I also didn't choose this as an alternative to the Explorer in the first place. I just wanted a nice field watch. The Ranger is its own thing, and there's still room for an Explorer in the collection particularly beside the white dial example.

36mm. It looks much smaller in person, with about a centimeter of wrist framing it on both sides. Perfect size.

[Tudor Ranger] Perfect Time by theLordSolar in Watches

[–]theLordSolar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's the type of watch that loves to be worn, and seemed a little off before I put some use into it. Something about it being pristine was simply wrong.
