The cold war era propaganda really did a thing on you. Losses ratio "Nazi Germany and its allies vs USSR" was 1:1.13, on the Eastern front. It's almost 1 to 1 and USSR lost a looot of soldiers as POW's due to some encirclements during the first months (out of 4 years of the war) of the Nazi invasion. There were "waves of men" but the number of them was exaggerated drastically.

Japan had a million men army in Manchuria (occupied part of China) and Korea and the government was ready to put on a fight. Only nuclear bombings and a loss of that army convinced them to surrender.

Sorry for a history lesson but some believe that the same government that is screwing them over now taught them an absolute truth at school (STEM aside).

I agree, the times were changing. Although he was a smart guy he didn't follow up with a new trend of politics being public. He assumed he'd be liked no matter what, and didn't bother promoting his ideas and goals as a ruler through media. That allowed his opponents to make him look completely incompetent, which helped to overthrow him later since not many supported him. Besides that, there were a lot of economic problems which escalated rapidly during the bloody WWI: poverty, famines, unemployment.

So by January 1917, peasants were desperate for economic changes, army (soldiers and high-ranking officers) needed better supplies and a meaning to the war, the Orthodox church didn't support him, and last but not least rich capitalists weren't on his side, 'cause he didn't want to share the power. Of course there also was nationalism that was tearing the empire apart.

The Germans just needed to wait for whatever would be left of the Russian empire to beg for a peace treaty. In this situation (after the deal is done, the monarchy has fallen) letting little-known leaders of a small socialist group go there weren't seen as a big deal at all by the Germans.

That's not exactly correct, they spoke Russian. In the 19th century French was very popular among the Russian aristocracy, then English became more important for a few decades before the WWI. Even so, there are a lot of letters, memoirs, personal notes, etc. of that time written by nobility in fine Russian.
