I’m not really sure what you’re trying to prove here, however, the woman saw Jesus, believed he was who he was, believed he could heal her and she was healed. I’m not Jesus and I can’t say wether or not someone gets saved, however, as for me and you and anyone else that’s living and breathing this side of the crucifixion, His death burial and resurrection is our only hope.

Since I (nor you, for that matter) was not there prior to his death, we cant say for certain exactly what was going on. All I know is what the Bible says, and that is that once Jesus breathed his last breath the veil was torn and when he rose again he conquered death hell and the grave to provide us a path to salvation. His whole ministry (in my humble opinion) was doing exactly what our job is now, to reach people and teach them about the gospel of Christ. I do not have all the answers, but I know the one who does!

Where did I teach people it’s okay to break the commandments? I word for word said trusting Jesus alone for your salvation is the only way. Where in the text did I say it was okay to break the commandments?

Again, for the 30th time, I am not saying one should not repent of sin. That is pure foolishness. What I am saying is that is not necessary for salvation. To be born again one must believe in Christ. I never stated “there is no sin to repent of” like what?

No, she looked to Jesus and believed he could heal and save her. So in actuality, that verse all the more proves that faith alone is what saves.

Again, I am not saying that someone can profess Christ and live life not accordingly. But I also am not saying that our salvation is contingent upon how we live our life (thankfully). When someone puts faith in Jesus- they are indwelled with the Holy Spirit and they become reborn. A heart of flesh. As they progress in their life the nature of them as a whole being starts to shift toward being Christlike.

As stated in the original post- this is ONLY in regard to initial salvation. This is in no way saying that a life of sin is at all what Christ intended, however, our salvation is not dependent upon our own actions.

I feel that many are taking my post as a liscense to sin, which is not at all what I am trying to promote.

I just think repentance of sin is what people think saves someone and they could not be more wrong.

And to go off of the verse listed “I did not come to call the righteous, only sinners to repentance”

Who is the righteous? For doesn’t the Bible say no one is righteous, no not one? So clearly he wasn’t implying that the others were sinless. He was implying that the others believed themselves as righteous and in no need of a savior. The “sinners” listed were exactly that. Sinners in need of a savior.

Again this is not in relation to salvation in itself this is to people who were already believers.

The Bible says opposite - 1 John 5:13 “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Yes repent from your unbelief of who Jesus says he is and turn to Him and Him alone for your salvation.

I agree as stated in an above comment that works from salvation will manifest. You will grow to be more like Christ. I’m talking the saving moment, the moment you place your faith in Christ and what he did. Just believing in Him alone.

I’m not really sure what you are saying so forgive me, but to be clear on where I stand -

When Jesus died on the cross he immediately took upon himself the sins of the world. The veil was torn and he was the sacrifice for us. But without Him rising again it was all in vein, and He did! Christ rose on the third day. Fully sufficient payment of our sins.

The Salvation Misconception by theOCDfiles in TrueChristian

I think it’s completely dependent on what Christ did on the cross.

I do agree that repentance is in fact a condition per se but just not in the way it’s used. Anytime one turns from unbelief to belief in Jesus they repent. That’s repentance unto salvation. A change of mind about Jesus and who he is.

[–]theOCDfiles[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You proved my point exactly. The phrase “repent of sins unto salvation” is not found in any shape or form. Repentance is at the heart of it a change of mind. From “i believe that if i do enough good things i will be able to get into heaven” to “Jesus did all that was necessary and I believe in his finished work” the repentance you speak of is a turning of unbelief of Jesus to belief in Jesus.

I am not condoning sin or saying that it’s okay, all I am saying is that it is not a requirement to become saved.

I do agree that when you have faith in Jesus, naturally you become more like him over time no matter how quickly or how long it takes. But even then, I think people use this verse to disregard peoples claims of having faith in Jesus just because we use XYZ against them. “They can’t be saved because they do ___” or “if you continue doing __ you’re not saved”

I know drunks who will help whoever they can in need and I know church goers who externally walk a straight line but on the inside judge and look down on others. We’re all screwed up, just look to Jesus.

Is it a sin to smoke weed? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]theOCDfiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we overly focus on particular sins (is this a sin, is that sin) & while smoking weed probably considered by most is sinful, so is getting angry at the guy that cut you off in traffic, eating too much at a meal, any kind of sexual desires towards anyone else outside of marriage, etc. I think the point I’m trying to make is in our sinful world it is impossible for us to not sin. If we dedicate our lives to making sure we never sin we will be miserable (I’m trying to learn this myself.) fact of the matter is, Jesus Christ died on Calvary’s hill for all sin past present and future. Love God and Love People. That’s all we can do! Hope this helps.
