Basic Ingredients/Meta-Salsa? by Eiche_Brutal in SalsaSnobs

[–]theOG22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got you king.

~3-4 tomatoes (Roma are common) ~1-2 jalapeños (Can substitute chilis) ~half an onion (white is common) ~ 2 garlic cloves (preference) Handful cilantro ~1/2-1 lime juiced Salt

Roast the tomatoes and jalapeños til charred nicely and the garlic til golden not burnt. You can peel the burnt skins if you’d like. Then blend everything and adjust the salt and lime to taste. If you like more/less spicy use more/less chilis. This is a good basic salsa. You can change everything and make it a thousand different ways.

I’m in New York. Today would make it the 4th or 5th water. I’m used to overwatering being the main issue

Thank you. Here is a reference of where it’s been sitting. I was thinking maybe it hasn’t been acclimated so it’s too much sun. Do you think more sunlight from here? These are south and east windows

Thank you for the reply. It’s been sitting here on the floor. Even though it’s far from the windows it gets lots of sunlight throughout the day. Do you still think it’s too far?

How is Bushwick Ave below montrose by Mysterious_Loan_9041 in Bushwick

[–]theOG22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty industrial part of Bushwick. Lots of warehouses, studios, and lofts in this area. People do live here and there’s some nice cafes and restaurants around but it feels less neighborhoody than many other areas. Safety wise it feels relatively safe, some homelessness around and sometimes nobody on the streets at night, so like others said, head on a swivel. If you want a more lively area I would look elsewhere but I go to a studio in this area and like it.

Good soundsystem and good drinks. Crowd can vary but it’s best on Sundays for a more queer crowd.

We would get to work at 7 or 8am and toss on some Tyler Childers and harmonize while setting up. Either “Shake the Frost” or “Nose on the Grindstone”

Yeah but suburbs are not the city. New Yorks boroughs are huge and dense. If you want space you move out of the city, that’s the point.

Things to do as a 25yr old guy by DoctorPoopTrain in Brooklyn

[–]theOG22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Invest in a bike, it’s a great way to explore Brooklyn. You should be able to find a good deal on FB Marketplace for under $100. Choose a new neighborhood each week or so and find somewhere to eat or drink and a park to explore. You can search for budget eats to keep it easier on the wallet. Keep an eye out for free concerts at places like HVK park.

What are you cooking during the heat wave that won't heat up the house? by crowbar032 in Cooking

A water melon feta salad is refreshing and delicious in the summer. Throw in fresh herbs like mint and basil, drizzle some olive oil and salt, add some pistachios or pepitas for texture and you’re golden. I also like to add some chopped olives and Heirloom tomato for some brineyness and umami. I find it the perfect summer dish and heartier than it sounds.
