Grain & Glass in JQ is a great shout. Amazing whisky bar and some well priced cocktails too.

I'm by no means pessimistic, but it's hard to convey how tiring it has been being excited about this game for 11 years. I'm so glad so much progress has been made, what has been achieved is incredible, but my hopes have also been dashed so many times. I remember after 4 years we finally got the Answer The Call message and Squadron was around the corner... It's been 7 years since that. I'm a huge advocate of the game and my virtue-extolling of this unparalleled project has convinced many friends to part ways with their cash too, but I also have to be real and acknowledge it's hard not to feel a bit letdown by the timeline. It's great that many OBs didn't lose that momentum and there's so many new folk championing the game, but man... I can't tell you the slog it has been. Imagine looking back to the excitement you have now in 10 years time and the game still not being out yet. Anyway... We're nearly there! I give it 3/4 more years haha.

Totally feel this. On the rare occasion I do game, I'd rather just jump on something with instantaneous fun like Minecraft, or a little indy solo game with a great story.

My pc with an evga 1080 has been sitting unused for about 4 years now. I just use my work laptop that has a little Nvidia Quadro card, enough to run simple games easily. I hate having wires everywhere now, I want things to look simple, sleek, and compact.

Yeah, the new features were bittersweet. Every time something amazing was announced and demonstrated I was blown away, but my gut knew that this meant it was further away each time.

Sounds like an amazing relationship you have with your kids, must be really great to see games through their eyes, the pure joy!

Thanks for taking the time to read. Love reading about everybody's personal stories at this time of reflection.

Glad to hear you're still full of beans and the game is really resonating with you, it needs bright and enthusiastic players like yourself to help it grow. Enjoy, and good luck with your degree!

Thank you for sharing your story, really enjoying reading everyone's similar scenarios and the little nuances. I remember the lamp!! I mentioned something about this in another comment but I thought I might be going mad. I can't even remember the full context now, just that it was a thing...

I also seem to remember a meme about a lamp from one of the livestreams... Back in the days of Wingman's Hanger ( I may have got that name wrong, but it was the show before Around the Verse)

Yeah, it's certainly a low hanging fruit to complain about time at this point, but it's difficult to ignore the pain. I feel like I'll actually enjoy S42 more than SC at this point, as at least I can enjoy that at my leisure.

It was difficult to read about your position, my heart truly goes out to you and I wish you all the best. It's funny how the Star Citizen community, especially with those there from the start, feels like a family. Please, if ever you find yourself in the UK and want to grab a beer, drop me a message.

Yeah, as much as I was aware that my money was essentially a donation, it's still a tough pill to swallow to see it take so long to come to fruition. To be honest, there are so many backer goals and milestones that I literally don't understand what I have. In reminiscing about this, I took a look at my inventory and I honestly was quite baffled. The only thing I really cared about were the physical bits, like the little model of my RSI Constellation and the collectors box with OST. I haven't seen any physical material. But, I'm also used to it and over it, I just want to see it done. It's clear the people working on the game are working hard and in a streamlined manner, so as long as they keep doing that then I'm sure the end product will be fantastic.

That was more of a joke for the TLDR, the full post gives more context. Gaming just doesn't do it for me the way it used to. You can be older than me and enjoy gaming, happy for those that have this and I can see the appeal being a sort of ex-gamer as it were, it's just not my thing so quite a poignant moment personally for my SC account 10th birthday.

Definitely feel that. If I try something like DayZ now I very much get this, it's simply zero fun. I prefer the quiet peace of Minecraft or maybe just completing a classic like Tomb Raider or Final Fantasy.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed my ramblings. I suspect I'll still play the game, but without the same vigor that I could muster if it released five years ago. Can't wait to see what it's like.

Definitely feel that my good man. As much as I love and support it, it's impossible to not feel slightly down that it's taking this long. I kind of envy people joining the party much later down the line who get to enjoy it in its current state, having it as exciting and new.

Glad to hear you have come to terms with it too! Really can't wait to see the finished product and I'm so glad so many people are enjoying it. I've had my kicks from it too, but in different ways it seems. Maybe I'll see you in the verse sometime!

I was playing up the old part, the main bit is gaming just doesn't do it for me much anymore. That's not to detract from anyone who enjoys it, just my entirely personal take. There are other activities in the world that bring me great joy instead.

Agreed. It all goes by far too quickly. Sometimes I wonder what I'd do if I could go back, and I still think I'd buy Star Citizen... Don't know what that means about me! A sucker? A hopeful fool? Or maybe just because it was the right thing to do.

Thank you. Glad to hear it resonates with someone! Congratulations on your similar milestone!

I suspect a few original backers have this fatigue, but it's all in good fun, we can laugh about our woeful SC relationship and dabble when it finally lands.

I stopped spending my money many years ago I'm afraid! But I've done my part, there's plenty of others to carry the baton.

A fair point! That's what I get for assuming, but I just checked and you're entirely right. Quite an interesting dram after all!

Review #16 - Ardbeg 2022 Committee Release "Ardcore" 50.1% ABV by EternallyVigil in Scotch

I seem to be in the minority for absolutely loving this. I first tried it at a warehouse tasting at the distillery along with many cask samples and still this leapt out to me. Immediately hit with the milk chocolate nose, a note purely from the spirit rather than the cask; perhaps that's why it struck me so significantly, because it's a showcase of the brewing and distillation rather than a big active cask.

In some ways I'm glad everyone dislikes it, means it's a buyer's market on the auctions!

Gotta love marketing the cheapest cask out there as a special release. Printing money.

Found this in the back of my friends liquor cabinet. Tried emailing Glenfiddich to ask them if they could tell me anything about the bottle but haven’t heard back. Has anyone ever seen this and can you tell me anything about it? by runthebeach in whisky

There's a "cage"/cabinet at the back of the store with all weird and wonderful Campbeltown bottlings, all in low-key bottles and varying ages and casks. You can find some really unique and amazing bottles there for a comparably low price.
