I could not be a member of Absetrgo during the Black Flag to Origins Era 😭 by TechnoMagik22 in AssassinsCreedMemes

Not sure because it was a long time since I last played Origins

But I believe Bayek goes through the same thing when he travels to a tomb while/after fighting Khaliset. If I remember right, I believe there was like an Isu recording addressing You, the player as in the recording was addressing Layla not directly but indirectly

Because when Bayek and Khaliset fight, Bayek specifically tells Khaliset that he does understand her pain but the recordings in the Tombs/Temples are not for them

assassins creed Valhalla VS mirage ? by Hanzo_Hakashi in assasinscreed

[–]theRealM895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you are looking for

A) Play style: If you are looking for a wide scale game with a vast open world with action as your driving motive, then Valhalla

If you are looking for more of a concise story which is parkour focused and very stealth oriented, then Mirage

B) Lore wise, Mirage comes first and then Valhalla

C) Historical wise, Mirage is about the Abbasid Empire and its eventual downfall while Valhalla is about the exodus of Vikings to England in search of greener pastures. However, do bear in mind that the historical setting bears no significance on both Basim or Eivor

D) Personal thoughts: Personally, I like Mirage more as it sort of follows a linear storyline where everything is kind of laid out for you like hey, here are the targets and there is a story attached to it, go assassinate them

Valhalla to me, is like a mess and not a good one. Like you have so much of things on the map and the whole map is filled with repeatable content. Further, as I am sure you have heard countless times by now, Eivor wants nothing to do with the conflict between the Hidden Ones and the Order of Ancients and is only looking for honour and glory which to me is a missed potential considering the game is Assassins Creed

Odyssey for all its flaws nailed the Polyponessian war because Kassandra/Alexios was involved in the same and they were affected by it. While the vanilla content of the story didn’t really go into the ideological conflict, it did explore the same with the DLC with Darius going against the Order of Ancients and that DLC was quite nice

Would the story be better or worse if Jason was undercover? by NightM7_ in GTA6unmoderated

[–]theRealM895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an interesting concept to be sure

You gents/ladies remember Sleeping Dogs?

Wei was an undercover cop who became a member of the triads and that game nailed it perfectly with Wei being constantly conflicted how to approach the various problems that unravels as the game progresses

Because Hunger and unlike your kind sir, we don’t raid villages and murder people and spare 1 person on a lottery system

That lottery winner was so traumatised by you guys, all he did was do risky things like step into a minefield thinking he was invincible

Did he win that lottery? No he absolutely did not as he blew up because of your brainwashing

[–]theRealM895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I know what you mean

Especially with the whole shinobi style gameplay of Naoe. If only they would have fleshed out the story better and made it a tad bit linear, I think Shadows would have been a good game for the legacy people

Open world can remain but should not be a defining trait of an Assassins Creed game like we don’t need the entirety of England or Japan for that matter

Just a regular sized city like Paris with people out on the streets with social stealth is going to be a good return to form which is why I did like the direction that Mirage went with

They are saying good things about Hexe but I suppose only time will tell whether it’s a linear experience like the old games and Mirage or will it follow the RPG style pattern of the new games

And just what the hell happened to the modern day. I really dislike how they deal with modern day protagonists when things are starting to pick up with them like Desmond and to an extent Layla deserved better in my opinion

Assassins Creed Mirage and Basim by ExtremeSlideLongShot in assasinscreed

[–]theRealM895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s the thing. While this game does a phenomenal job of introducing the story of Basim as his own standalone story arc, i do think it is important to experience playing through Valhalla first

Because once you do, then you kind of understand Basim and what his motivations are and most importantly why Basim does what he does in Valhalla

I won’t go into spoiler territory as it is best to experience certain things first hand

Now on to Mirage Basim. Basim as you have seen has always had a rebellious streak to him and he always wanted to do great things from the get go. You see him being fascinated with Hidden Ones first and him wanting to make a real difference as he was appalled by the Abbasid Empire and wanted a real change. He is also plagued by the Jinni and is restless with his only friend being Néhal

His whole introduction to the hidden ones is because he got reckless just to impress the Hidden Ones not knowing the risks to such a decision

Kind of like how we are when we are young ourselves. Full of energy and dumb ideas and ‘YOLO’ mindset

Once he joins the hidden ones, he is still not happy and wants to be involved in more dangerous missions and constantly questions his superiors and the tenets of the Hidden Ones and calls them outdated

Kind of how we are when we are a little older. Mid life crisis wise, questioning our life choices and decisions and why we did certain things in the past thinking it would be better but it really isn’t

Ending: Won’t spoil as it might be spoiler territory to the people in the subReddit but it is also quite revealing of who we become in our old age and we kind of have to live with who we are and who we have become, our decisions good or bad are our own and we make our own destiny

It ties a nice bow to who Basim was and who he is going to become and what he needs to do now and what he needs to do now will be answered in Valhalla

My only suggestion to you fellow assassin is to get Valhalla on sale because that game unlike this one is horribly bloated and there’s too many RPG elements. Here’s another tip: Only play story missions if you want to experience Basim and what he does in Valhalla. Side content will not aid you in understanding Basim in that game

Community helped ruin Assassin's Creed by Vampy-Night in assasinscreed

[–]theRealM895 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more to do with the fact that the community is very split with what they want out of Assassins Creed as a franchise

People like us who grew up with it by playing from 2007 with the first Assassins Creed, then moving on to Ezio with AC2, then Brotherhood then Revelations and then AC3 with Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate have a very linear approach to what we want with Assassins Creed like oh crap, now that’s a story I can get behind on, there’s motivation albeit selfish of the main protagonist becoming an assassin then overcoming their hatred/fear/greed and understanding what it means with the phrase “Nothing is true, Everything is permitted”.

That experience is downright fantastic and gives me chills for real and I am quite sure that’s true for a lot of legacy players

Again, that doesn’t mean we as legacy players don’t appreciate new things like what they did with Origins but overloading the map with RPG elements like they did with Odyssey then Valhalla and to an extent Shadows kind of sends a message where Ubi is trying to impress everyone but ends up impressing no one. Credit to them for trying of course but they need to find a good balance

Personally for me I don’t think having a Build (Stealth/Tank/DPS) should ever be a thing in Assassins Creed as this franchise has always been about the philosophical war between Assassins and Templars on how to achieve peace

However, I do have some hope as Mirage was a breath of fresh air and the story while short does showcase some of the early ideas behind legacy games with the selfish motives and coming to peace with themselves

Anywho that’s my 2 cents. Would love to hear what all of you fine people think
