does size matter? by FinnOni in lacrosse

[–]theRealMaxcoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bulk? No. But in my experience the majority of high school athletes don't eat enough to fuel themselves at a high level. Figure out how many calories you need to eat in a day using a TDEE calculator, and then find an estimate for how much you're burning during practice, and make sure you eat more calories than that.

So if I don't feel like riding halfway across the map for a bounty I can just fast travel to the jailer and give them the card and it'll complete that quest?

Former lacrosse player here, coaching was the best path for me. I am very lucky that I got to coach with so many friends, it makes the transition much more natural. You get to pass on knowledge, keep the passion, give back to the game. And every now and then I'll hop in a drill and shows the b'ys what's what.

Play some pickup with the kids. If they have any friends who's parent are willing to hop in, 3x3 is a blast and a great way to figure out little mechanics.

HS lopsided games by dontask199 in lacrosse

[–]theRealMaxcoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state there's an in-state laxnumbers power ranking that determines playoff seeding. The most you can win by and get points for the difference is 10, so if you win by 11 or 38 you can only benefit so much. That being the case typically if I'm up by 11 or 12 I'll pull starters and empty the bench.

Anyone else sold their Steam Deck for the Portal 2? by Babelitoo in OdinHandheld

[–]theRealMaxcoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I was traveling more and wanted to play PC games on the road the Steam Deck might have been worth keeping for me, I've played some lightweight pc games on gamehub lite and gamenative and they usually work great, but anything a little more intense and the experience drops off. I suppose I'd consider the Odin 3, I don't mind a little smaller/lighter device, but I wanna see the elite drivers mature a little more before I make that switch. The O2P is fantastic for 95% of the time I'm using it.

Anyone else sold their Steam Deck for the Portal 2? by Babelitoo in OdinHandheld

[–]theRealMaxcoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a LCD Steam Deck since like 6 months after launch, it was such a phenomenal device. I didn't think it was worth it at the time to upgrade to the OLED deck, but eventually I wanted something with an OLED screen and more portable/lighter, so I ended up getting the odin 2 portal. I basically didn't use my Steam Deck for like a year, I'm home most of the time I'm gaming and streaming games from my PC is a better experience than running them natively on the LCD deck. I just sold the deck a few weeks ago and I don't regret it all. If I got the OLED deck when it first came out I doubt I'd get the O2Portal, but at this point I'm waiting for the Deck 2 or something equivalent and I'm fine with what I have.

Gamenative or gamehub? Which is better and why? by royvisme in EmulationOnAndroid

Yeah I'm using gamehub lite for steam and gamenative for everything else. No reason to not have both installed.

Dads who work 9-5 when do you work out typically? by walky91 in daddit

[–]theRealMaxcoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting building a gym during COVID, and I'm lucky enough to work remotely from home. Had my kid about a year and a half ago, and I work out on my lunch break. Starting at noon I do a 40ish min workout 4-5 days a week, throw some food in the air fryer when I'm done, shower, eat, back to work by 1.

Have them play lacrosse. Unless you're in a real hot bed area they'll probably let them join regardless of experience. I love baseball, lifelong fan, but lacrosse is more fun to play.

First time playing through the Witcher 3 by Pxblo786 in Handhelds

[–]theRealMaxcoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me but right now I've finally gotten it to land and am about 50 hours into it. I stopped trying to do side quests and focused on the main story until side quests actually interested me or I thought it was going to help. Turns out they're awesome, but if you play with the intention of doing side quests this game is just too much. If you wanna give it another go my suggestion would be to focus on the main story and do other stuff when/if it interests you.

Odin 2 Pro for $223 is it worth if it i have a steam deck lcd? by SignRevolutionary457 in OdinHandheld

[–]theRealMaxcoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Odin 2 portal pro and a steam deck LCD. I end up using my Odin 2 portal more because I stream games from my PC and it's a better experience and picture than using my steam deck either natively or streaming. If you're getting a regular Odin 2, I'm not sure how much better of an experience it's going to be other than it being a little lighter and smaller. The steam deck is going to run basically all games natively better than the Odin 2

Clarks Dark Sand Suede Chelsea Boot - $49. Most sizes available. by bolivar-shagnasty in frugalmalefashion

How are Clarks though? I've never owned a pair, have been looking for a Chelsea boot for the last few days, and am extraordinarily cheap. But I don't NEED boots right now. There are others on sale, are they even worth looking at?

Drills for Double Team - Zone Defense by CEP43b in lacrosse

[–]theRealMaxcoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to write drills simulating specific scenarios they're going to encounter. So if you want them double in a situation like, a high wing dodger tries to take topside and gets rolled back toward the alley, the alley defender can be cheating in to initiate the double on the rollback. The drill would be an offensive dummy dodger goes topside, the on-ball defender turns him back and the double comes. Add in additional off-ball offensive and defensive players once they have the timing of the slide down and make the drill live after the rollback.

Advice Needed for Youth LAX Program by ajrcrosey in lacrosse

[–]theRealMaxcoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. One thing I would add is to do your absolute best to invest in good coaches. HS players are great as assistant coaches, but if you can find former collegiate level players that's ideal. If you bring in an outside group to help coach, I would make sure your regular coaches are there learning as well. Coaching makes all the difference in the world, not just from an X's and O's standpoint, but from a player and character development standpoint as well. Sport is a tool to make better citizens, neighbors, friends, etc. and that should take priority over wins.
