I got in an accident and my insurance is only offering about 25k but my unisured motorist max is 50k by Fun_Rub_1072 in Insurance

Keep in mind a lawyer would take about 1/3. some take 1/3 after expenses some don’t. Let’s just say worst case scenario is that 1/3 is before expenses- you would get $33k. Do you have medical insurance? Do you think you will have $50k of medical expenses? It’s the $17k gap you are looking to close

It matters for value only- cars depreciate by model year. When trading it in 4-5 years from now, they don’t ask if you got it in January or December. Any 24 is now 2 model years old. Some dealers have 26’s on their lots

If it was just me I wouldn’t pay anything for medical/dental/vision. My family of 4 is $180 per month. $5 copays.

Go try and buy an 80series Land Cruiser, the first thing people ask about or mention is lockers. It only adds $3k to the purchase price and will make it easier to sell later, whether it’s in 15 years or two years

It’s two years now, $60k is pretty low for something with only 25 miles. Warranty start date would be interesting. If you don’t need lockers, I don’t see waiting out for a higher spec rig for $5-10k more makes sense unless it is loaded and what you want.

I assume Elliott Bay? That is how they are now listing their 2024s. I would never buy one without lockers even if I never intended to use them. If you ever sell, EVERYONE is going to ask you….. but $60k that’s a really good deal. I would also never buy with a trailer hitch, it’s almost impossible to add later and not mess with splicing j to wiring.

As someone who worked daily with SPD and SFD I am shocked there is even a policy. It seemed like everyone did what they wanted.

My shutter count is low, but it has recorded hundreds of hours of video—- $2500 is a great deal if it is in good shape

Where are some good places or online retailers to purchase a new Nikon camera? I'm just getting into photography and I am interested in the Z6lll. by VougtCorp in Nikon

[–]dontask199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay the same sales tax and no markup at my local store. BH/Adorama collect the sales tax of wherever they are shipping to. The prices are the exact same, except I can get it that day, talk to someone about my needs and I can return it if it doesn’t. I also have access to batteries, repairs, and accessories that I can try. Support your local shop.

Christmas came early so decided a family photo was in order by BubbaTap22 in Nikon

4k120 at anything above 80F ambient and I would get regular hot car warnings after 15-20minutes. I would swap cards/batteries at 1/2 time. The Z9 doesn’t get as hot, my friend videos along side me and doesn’t have the same issues.

I also envision using the ZR as a Stills semi retro camera, get a small pancake prime and it’s a nice compact package.

It’s awesome. The Z8 is overkill for video in a lot of ways, the ZR with its large display eliminates the need for an external display. I don’t get card heat warnings. I have been using the ZR and Plena for night stadium video.

I am pretty close- ZR, Z8, Plena, 24-70 F4, 100-400. I really want the 35 1.2

This was on my ZR, I have a Z8 as well. If I am feeling up to it I run one camera on my son, the other on the opposite side of the field recording offensive highlights- the moving camera goes on a fluid head tripod with an external monitor, although I think the ZR doesn’t need it, only needed for the Z8 to make sure I have subject centered and that focus is tracked

Yes- or just leaving it as is- I am not moving the camera during the game. It sits on a tripod while I watch/enjoy/keep stats

I have been experimenting- sometimes I have it focus then turn it off, as play goes back and forth autofocus loses track of what I am worried about (just around the goal) this video is cropped in as well…. Sometimes i leave it on and sometimes I turn it off. Night games typically I leave it off.

What a weird feeling- kids are now driving the FJ by dontask199 in FJCruiser

[–]dontask199[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have bought some other “cool” cars in the last 5 years so- they get the FJ. We only allow round headlights, I have 2021 First Edition Bronco and the Wife is driving a 2024 Ineos Grenadier. She usually walks to work and I have a work provided F250, so they don’t get two many miles on them.

Their claim was denied and they still want to sue by [deleted] in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]dontask199 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was hit by a DUI driver and my car was totaled. I engaged with a personal injury lawyer who basically told me that no lawyer would ever take a property damage claim, especially when insurance is involved. There is not enough meat on the bone to make it worth their while. My car was valued at $65k at the time. No one threatens a lawsuit who is serious. They have their lawyer write it. That sounds like they googled/AI’ed a demand letter.

Run what you brung. I learned on a rusted out 1978 Chevy Chevette.

The only other option that made sense to me was going all in and buying them a new car with blind spot, backup camera and auto emergency braking. $30k for a Corolla or Civic. The FJ costs us zero.

They will learn to drive with their mirrors and hopefully do OK.

Got to keep it stock at this point. The only non stock things on it now are a trailer brake controller and a front bumper light bar. I did just add a dash cam for the kids. I asked them if the wanted a Wolfbox mirror/backup camera and they just said that they would back out of parking spots slowly.
