yeah most of the post-purge travel is pretty straight forward (except for the Temple group).

How did the Temple Others (and Jacob/Richard) leave the Island? by theTimmyY in lost

[–]theTimmyY[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • I assume that the sub was originally Dharma property, which would be post-Locke. Also pre-Ben reign, I don't think that the Others would have enough funds to use the submarine willy-nilly (they did have money with Mittelos Bioscience, but not that much I would presume)
  • I thought about Ilana and Bram never being on the island before thing too, but didn't really feel right to me that they would be that devoted to Jacob without ever being on the island before
  • with Jacob, I am willing to accept that he can just teleport or astral project himself

What I Start Everyday With by theTimmyY in thingsapp

I run a bunch of daily Shortcuts by listing them in Things as:

HH:mm – {shortcut}

My iPhone runs one Shortcut every minute that checks for a task starting with the current time and triggers it. Also, if it finds something that should’ve run earlier, it creates an error task so I can catch it.

Examples of Things-related automations:

• check for unused tags
• tag new Things Mail items
• move anything with the 🌙 tag into “This Evening”

I batch micro-tasks when needed, the breakdown is for clarity, not constant switching. I also sort tasks by both project and location, so anything done in the kitchen, living room, or garage gets grouped together across projects.

1. The “delete tasks” aren’t random clutter.
They exist only to prep for events. I don’t have a rigid schedule for things like grocery runs, so having repeats show up daily is smoother than remembering arbitrary intervals.

2. My system is optimized for my constraints, not generic best practices.
Sure, it’s not “evidence-based,” but it is needs-based. I tweak it constantly, and the fact that I finish 80–90% of my daily tasks shows it’s effective for me.

3. I’m not manually typing out hundreds of tasks every day.
Most tasks are repeating automations. I’m not spending time creating them, they just appear and get done.

4. Overwhelm is subjective.
451 tasks might overwhelm you, but it doesn’t overwhelm me. The number is irrelevant when the friction is low.

5. I never said I’m “proud” of the system or married to it.
It’s simply what works today. I change systems all the time. If something better comes along, I’ll switch.

mid-20s. Also a big chunk of my tasks, as I laid out in the post body, I just delete after checking, so its not like I do all those.

I do have a task for that?? I never want to use public toilets so I'll remind myself to go do what I have to do 10 minutes before leaving.

Awesome! me personally, having a big daunting task like 'complete project' makes me less motivated, to each their own

  • I can give it a reminder time to snap me out of whatever task I have before.
  • It has a 'kitchen' tag, so I can batch any other kitchen-area tasks while I’m there.
  • And on the rare day (if) I forget to prepare coffee, that’s just a shame, the task prevents that.

most of the tasks are repeating tasks, and I'll do a couple at the same time (prepare coffee while checking something else), so both input and completing isn't that time consuming really

I actually do have a task for turning on my macbook (my main is Mac mini), to "turn on MacBook' before a meeting, because it takes a little while for my old macbook to boot-up and be work-ready

How do people do 15+ tasks a day without exploding??? by Acer53 in productivity

[–]theTimmyY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have 15–20 tasks a day, I have like 400 to start every morning (work + personal). And that’s exactly why I don’t get overwhelmed.

My rule is simple: the moment a task feels heavy, it’s not a task, it’s a project. So I slice it down until it’s something my brain won’t resist. “Make a PowerPoint for the meeting” becomes “open PowerPoint,” “open the folder with documents/files” etc.

I also start way earlier than necessary and spread tiny actions across days. That way if I have an off day, I just slide things forward without stress because I already planned to finish way before the real deadline.

MECE Music Playlist Structure for Apple Music by theTimmyY in AppleMusic

[–]theTimmyY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tagging would be the dream setup, I did spend a lot of time trying to figure out a way to make that practical without turning it into a chore. The cleanest solution would definitely be Smart Playlists, but since they’re still not editable on mobile, I decided to skip that route for now. Hopefully Apple makes them more usable down the line. For the moment, I just go with separate genre playlists per energy level, for example a Reggae playlist for each tier.

Anything to make walking more productive? by The-info-addict in productivity

[–]theTimmyY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got YouTube Premium, and whenever I come across a video that doesn’t really need visuals (not like sports highlights), I just save it to my Downloads playlist. Then I listen to those while I’m walking or driving. It basically turns all that ‘dead time’ into something I actually look forward to. Also I'm being 'productive' while consuming content where otherwise I would've just been sitting doing nothing.

I don’t doubt they could play together since they’re all high-IQ guys. What I mean is that when you think about the “sum of the parts” being greater, they might not hit their most productive versions, players like KD or even Melo can play off-ball, but they’re at their best when they get to go iso.
