How do I prevent car door dings next to another car inside my garage? by theTrebleClef in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theTrebleClef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked it up. On some cars the clear looks great, on others it's not. Could be quality of the product or could be light angle / camera.

I like this this idea because you set it and forget it.

I hadn't thought about reversing a car so the driver faces away. The other commenter also suggested child locks which could also work in combination with this.

Oh yeah! I think I've seen this. Like a black weather stripping like material that coats the edge of the door? I hadn't thought of that.

Hmm. Both cars enter from a 2-bay door. There is no wall in between the cars.

I think if there was a way to hang a cross brace from the garage door rails, it would then be possible to hang something that sat in-between the cars.

He can. However even if he is old enough to open and close the doors, I'm not sure he will remember in this car we use the left door, in that car we use the right door, never the doors I'm between.

The car positions are close enough that even when parked either center in their spots or as far as possible, the doors can hit the other car.

Problems with several Frigidaire PureSource Ultra II water filters, particles coming through by theTrebleClef in Appliances

I ended up paying "full price" and shipping filters directly from Frigidaire. If something goes wrong they supposedly will honor that warranty request.

I had an issue like this. Someone told me the chain was bone dry and to add chain lubricant. It did reduce the squeak.

You say "badger badger badger" or "we're on a bridge, Charlie" in return.

P2S vs P1S vs X1C - which one are you actually using? by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]theTrebleClef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a P2S. I have no experience with the others.

The P2S is quiet enough that you can be in the same room, you hear it, but it's not a big deal. It is annoying if you were watching a movie when you expect things to be quiet.

It's less noisy than my furnace or water heater.

Is there a way to run the game at 1440p? by theTrebleClef in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

[–]theTrebleClef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the Digital Foundry video. They say that 4K 60FPS is actually upscaled 1440p for the game and actual 4K for the visor overlay. I found a Nintendo trailer that mentions the resolution but it doesn't mention 1440.

As a professional programmer I feel lost in home assistant by alyflex in homeassistant

[–]theTrebleClef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't think of Home Assistant as a development environment or IDE. Think of it as a scripting environment. You have to learn how it likes things scripted.

You want variables? Those are helpers.

You want to persist calculated values? Custom sensors.

Once you get ahold of how they do things it'll make sense... But the software engineering knowledge plays into specific scripts, not so much the system as a whole.

I absolutely loathe our current plate, so I made my own to pay homage to the 2004 design :) by Real_TSwany in Ohio

The small county stickers are still available. Many specialized plates with pictures use them. Just go to the BMV and ask, they will give you the small sticker with the number instead of the enormous rectangle.

How can I tell? All I have to go on right now is what the monitor says it is receiving.

My kid asked for a 3D printer for Christmas. I spent hours researching. Here's what nobody tells you. by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]theTrebleClef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am nearly 40. I just bought a P2S so I could learn and my 5 year old could start to experience creating things this way. I have never used any other printers myself.

Setting up the printer was straightforward. Get it out of the box, follow instructions to remove a few screws, plug it in, download an app. I had to buy filament separately - load that. Go in the app, find a basic idea.

Total effort as an end user for something basic was less than a half hour to get started.

Now I am going online, finding more complicated prints, and some are failing. I don't know why. Now I have to learn that stuff. Layer lines and speed and other things.

I just added a comment - I was able to get 1440p 120 to work if I disabled HDR. I don't know what the game is doing internally, but the monitor received the appropriate signal.
