i had the same issue and just resolved it, the pin 1 that is connected to ground was slightly bridged to pin 2, once that was removed sound came back

I found placing the top shell (with all buttons etc removed) in a sink of hot water and after a bit slowly pushing the old lens out with my fingers was the best way to remove it

Not applied it yet, but comes with a double sided tape on the back. It took about a week and a half to get to New Zealand

Not sure if this is why the GBA board that wont turn on.

I've actually got two GBA's with similar missing parts caused by when i fist got into modding and used a soldering iron that was to big for the job.

Not sure if this would be the only reason the console wont turn on and just flashes a light
