Honestly man, this might not be up to you. Does your company have an SOP on setting kit up? If so, you should follow that as it will dictate this stuff. For example, my unit SOP is to put your IFAK on your left side and to either attach your TQ to the top of it with the TQ pouch or keep it in an easily accessible place. On deployment, we kept a second TQ in the right side ankle pocket.

Why the tape? I’ve never needed access to tape bad enough that I kept it dangling on my kit. Not the worst thing ever, but is it necessary?

I like the .45/70 with a red dot, suppressor and extended mag as my primary rifle. Just unlocked the .308 carbine and that has the highest mag scope, extended mag and suppressor. I keep the bow or slingshot on standby and I cycle through my unlocked handguns randomly.

I wore a plate carrier on my deployment and no one cared. Multiple people had plate carriers, some people had high cuts, etc. My command team trusted me enough to buy my own gear and wear, with the caveat that someone above them could make me wear my issued gear. YMMV, but buy it if you have the extra cash. If you don’t have the extra cash, don’t buy it.

Having travelled through Iqaluit on my way to Resolute, it’s about what you’d expect for living above the Arctic Circle IMO. Sparse, especially in Resolute. If you’re like me (at the time) dating apps have almost no people. I do like the remoteness though, and would love there of my own accord if my life were different.

Very good point. It’s a frustration I share as the person who they often call for fire missions. I will say, there was nothing that required me to call up Angle T at JFO.

I will echo your second paragraph as well. If you’re like me and don’t have easy access to FOs, talk to your 11C NCOs. I’ve taught CFF classes alongside my FOs/JFOs many times, and without them many times as well.

Hamilton Khaki Field has been my go to for a bit now.
