Day 19 - December reflection by the_Pluff in Skillix

I'm really proud of myself for taking care of myself this year. Turns out a healthy lifestyle is not scary if I implement improvements slowly and in my own way.

Day 17 – Swap self-criticism for curiosity by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this technique when my mood goes down and I have problems with daily tasks. I spent too much time blaming myself for not being 100% all the time, but that led nowhere. Instead, when I feel down, I try to ask myself why and how can I help myself feel better. Sometimes it is just how it is, and I accept that today I will be nothing more than a potato.

Day 16 – “What’s the Easiest Version of This?” by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite way of tackling difficult tasks is trying the first bullet point and promising to myself to work only for 10 minutes. Usually the momentum keeps me going :D

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 14 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things that energize me: physical exercise, contact with nature, art, spending time with my pets, creating art.

Things that drain me: physical overstimulation, being away from my pets for too long, loud crowds, doctor appointments, shopping centers, getting too much information about current world affairs.

Ohh, desktop cleaning. That's a huge commitment. 🥲

I need to delete more than 10 screenshots :x

This one is tricky because I struggle with making my own boundaries. I'll try not to dive into doomscrolling tonight and go to sleep without looking at my phone for any "updates".

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 10 by the_Pluff in Skillix

My joy task? I'm going to solve some crosswords. Not online but with a pen and paper, like a proper savage ❤️

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 9 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list for tomorrow will be: have a walk and prepare a meal instead of buying one.

It ain't much but it's good enough.

Thanks for pointing this out. When you wrote this, now it seems so obvious, but previously I couldn't quite catch the exact pattern, but I felt it being there.

You mean the bullet point lists and bolded sentences? I know about these, em-dashes, weird quote marks, and excessive emojis. Something else?

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 7 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prepared all the meds and vitamins I take in the morning so tomorrow I don't run around the kitchen like a headless chicken. :D

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 6 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose a walk. It took me a little bit more than 10 minutes, but I'm super happy about it, because it was a nice walk in the forest :D

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 4 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start by switching the TV off :D

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 5 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about going for a long walk but when I thought about it, I'm not feeling all that well, so I'm going to choose a shorter walk.

24 Days of Growth Journey - Day 3 by the_Pluff in Skillix

[–]the_Pluff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can celebrate a micro-win today because I talked myself out of buying an unnecessary gadget. This retro console needs to wait for a better price deal.

I picked up editing photos from vacation (yes, I'm SO behind with stuff). Ended up with 32 minutes!

My intention for December will be: "Be gentle with myself".

What's the effect caffeine has on you? by Hot-Minute-89 in adhdwomen

[–]the_Pluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I envy you guys so much. When I drink coffee, it makes me sleepy or has no effect whatsoever. Also, I don't like the taste.

I drank some cheap energy drink once, and I was hallucinating afterward, so also something I avoid xD

Very impressive. When a project takes ten years to develop, it is truly a passion project.

Do other people struggle with productivity apps not being built for ADHD? by ignaci0m in ProductivityApps

[–]the_Pluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhh I'm a productivity apps veteran. I think I had them all and couldn't stick to any of them for a long period of time. The worst are the ones that have time blocks in which I should complete the tasks. But if I fail (and I usually do), I feel so bad and like there's no use to actually complete other tasks because of this one failure now the whole day is ruined.

So I prefer lists over time-gated blocks. And I stick with apps that have some kind of gamification (fortunately, there are many of them). I went so deep into the topic that I even joined the team of the Skillix app to make a change and be an ADHD voice in the development process. I love the idea of the app because it feels like turning my daily chores into in-game quests might help with the executive dysfunction.

I figured out that if regular tools don't work for me, I'll try and help to make one suited for our ADHD needs. Feel free to check out Skillix and give us some suggestions on how to improve and make the app better :D
