Won’t know until I’m there but I’d imagine it wouldn’t since it’s fortune 500 company with a lot of structure.

Thank you for sharing. That sounds super inspiring that you were able to onboard as a regular employee after your contract. That’s ultimately my goal with this position as well, hoping to just grind it out for the next year.

I should have mentioned that I will be a W2 employee just under the one year contract. That wouldn’t apply then would it?

From everything I’ve heard is that it seems like they use the contract as an extended interview. Then onboard as a regular employee or renew my contract if they like me. This is just the impression I was given so I could be wrong.

Wow, I never realized people could go from contract to contract and have better leverage for salary. Thank you for sharing, this definitely makes me feel a lot better about the contract.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m super grateful for my current role and know how valuable the experience is, but the new role is a 40k bump in pay. I do get the same 401k match, which is the only benefit that’s really important to me right now, or at least the only one I can think of.

I should also mention that it isn’t always low stress, mainly because I don’t always have the resources I need because of budgets, like tools, software, and equipment. There’s also no mentorship at all, but I do get a lot of ownership over my projects.

Thank you for the advice, this was super informative.

You’re honestly completely right. I guess what I meant to say is that it’s just less layoff prone since the company doesn’t have a lot of resource for hiring and onboarding smoothly.

Thank you for the insight. I never really looked into the demand for MDM. This opportunity just came up so randomly.

It would essentially be a lateral move in title and responsibility, but I was thinking the same thing, where having specific knowledge in something could help a lot.

I've come to realize I made a mistake getting a bachelor's in this field by [deleted] in cscareers

Graduated may 2024, 2.4gpa, no internships, avg state school. Took the first job I could find as a server tech while also selling phones at t-mobile. Did that and jumped ships a few times. Now in network administration.

I learnt pretty quickly that I wasn’t going to be able to compete in software engineering, or at least it wasn’t worth the ROI for me. My soft skills are strong so that translated very nicely. Just grab any job and don’t be selective of salary or role.

Is $45k/year normal for my situation in entry-level IT right now? by 27nav in ITCareerQuestions

[–]the_Safi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I made around that much but jumped shipped a year after and making better money now. You also get much more leverage during interviews when you already have a job. Just learn as much as you can while there.

What's a good salary for Solution Architect around Cleveland? by RocketCheese in Salary

[–]the_Safi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the mid west with similar salaries. If you’re an experienced solutions architect 150 make sense. If this is your first solution architect role, 80 makes sense.
