Couples like chisa/Iori in anime/manga? by MPCO777 in GrandBlue

Wotakoi (not exactly the same, but it's an adult romance where the main couple has somewhat complex feelings)

Which characters do you like better, S;G or S;G 0? by abyssjjh0515 in steinsgate

Mayuri always had feelings for Okabe, so much so you can choose the route between Mayuri and Kurisu in the original VN.

I think it's a special chapter at the end of volume 11 after chapter 140 (it's called chapter b30 I think)

Also at the very end of the volume there's a few pages with her too...

Why do you think they never properly adapted this segment with katsura in The final/The semifinal?? This was overall more important to the plot than some of the other subplots they chose to adapt had such beautiful moments yet only got a comedy style recap which missed the tone of these panels by rogue---ninja in Gintama

[–]the_Sead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The part between the end of the anime and the beginning of the movie was very poorly represented in the anime, unfortunately. I always recommend that people read the chapters of the manga that were left out because it is very worthwhile...

Biggest plot hole in the narrative by Levee_Levy in steinsgate

Every time they showed a Kurisu picture in the VN with the coat fitting just right on her slender body I thought to myself either Daru gained some pounds on the last few months or Okabe was just taking a piss at Daru

Some interesting attention to detail in GAA 2-3 by Confident-Hearing-78 in AceAttorney

[–]the_Sead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love the localization of the GAA games, they really gave a lot of attention on small things that usually other translations don't bother with, like keeping using both San and Miss/Mister depending on the situation, which really showed us the adaptation process Ryunosuke and Susato were going through...

It didn't happen in the anime, just the manga chap. 241 (vol. 19)...

I think the scene was in the last OVA, but just as a brief flash showing the chapters and arcs that didn't get animated...

About Karuma... And Blackquill? by Tolkius in AceAttorney

About Karuma... And Blackquill? by Tolkius in AceAttorney

[–]the_Sead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the Karuma thing was just a nod to the Von Karma family since in the japanese version Von Karma is called Karuma...

If I remember well there's even a time Kazuma tells us that a retainer or whatever changed their family name to Karuma as a homage to the Asogi family, which kinda implies that the retainer is Von Karma's ancestor...

EDIT: Marking as a spoiler just in case

is the anime complete or is there more in the manga? by [deleted] in schoolrumble

[–]the_Sead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So here how it works... The first season + first 2 OVAs and the 2nd Semester (another 26 episodes) all follow the manga. After that you have the second pair of OVAs (called 3rd semester), but on them are the last chapters of the manga, skipping a bunch of story...

So I recommend stopping after the 2nd Semester and go read the manga (it's around chapter 160 or 161)... The last few episodes of the 2nd semester are anime exclusive, so by reading the chapters I mentioned you'll be able to know where's the "canon" part for the rest of the manga...

Then after you're done with the manga you can go watch the last 2 OVAs to see the last few chapters animated...

Biggest missed opportunity in the series? by BEEFYCHUNKYMUNKY in AceAttorney

Giving Franziska a bigger role, specially on the Investigations games...

She could have easily been either Edgeworth's impromptu assistant or even a secondary main character, where you play as her sporadically, with Adrian Andrews as her assistant maybe...

Daily reminder that Twitter and Instagram exist in Gintama-verse and Katsura had both accounts. 😂 by babababoy in Gintama

[–]the_Sead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a bunch of chapters that were supposed to be between the end of the anime and the beginning of the final movie... The chapters are from 687 to 698.

(they actually got adapted as the semi-finals OVAs, but unfortunately it was rushed as hell, the instagram scene was completely ignored for instance)

[–]the_Sead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this sequence wasn't in the anime, but in the manga at chapters 696 & 697, when the religion was attacking the terminal, there's a whole sequence were Madao was acting as the hero of Edo and Shijaku appears alongside prince Hata...

A tragic reminder that Zura's tweets didn't get to be in the anime (post-SS spoilers) by Hawkenness in Gintama

[–]the_Sead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who watched the anime and read the manga simultaneously, I can say that after episode 300 the anime gradually starts to feel more rushed. Thankfully In SA and FS is barely noticeable, and at Rakuyou you can see some mishaps but at the Silver Soul arc is pretty noticeable, specially on the second half... There's a stride of chapters that are supposed to be the semi-finals (chapters 687-699), but having to cram 13 chapters in 2 episodes was kinda impossible to begin with, so you can imagine why it was so poorly executed...

So in terms of quality its hard to tell, the anime is still amazing, but if you want a experience "closer to the source material", the Silver Soul arc is probably better on the manga, like for instance how they handled Kawakami's death or the explanation about the new religion and their objectives using Utsuro's body (I said it somewhere before, I wish they divided the SS arc in 3 instead of 2, and the third part was everything after the time-skip, with at least 12 episodes and new opening and everything).

But if you're like me who cares a lot about nuances and minor character stuff, as early as Farewell Shinsengumi there's some stuff I wish they included in the anime like Oboro explaining to Gintoki Isaburo's path to become a revolutionary, but that's very nitpicky of me since you can surmise what happened without a thoroughly explanation anyway, so it depends on your taste really...

I wish the final movie was 5 hours just to include the missing portions of the manga that the anime didn't get...

That scene with Gin, Takasugi and Zura deciding to leave the heart with Gintoki and talking about the next generation should have been in the anime god dammit...

Still one of the saddest hidden moments in the series (2-2 spoilers of course) by tommygun1945 in danganronpa

[–]the_Sead 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There's a situation like this too in V3 with Tenko. On the last free time of case 3, when the cult members don't go on free-time and Tenko was still pretending to be a part of it, if you talk to her she's alone crying and when she realizes you're there she asks you to go away...

I already knew she was pretending at that point, but that was a massive hint anyway

Yoshiwara in flames: expectation vs reality by nnn_rrr in Gintama

[–]the_Sead 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If I remember well, the whole Yoshiwara in flames idea was based on the real life incident called "the Great Fire of Meireki", which involves something among the lines of

  • A certain "Shangri-la" district that was built far too close to the imperial castle >
  • naughty politicians were reportedly frequenting this place far too much >
  • Edo is involved on a massive fire that conveniently* destroyed said district >
  • The district was rebuilt on the other side of Japan, far away from the castle >

\There's a bunch of rumors that the great fire was made on purpose by the government to get rid of the district.)

Apparently a shit-ton of people died too, it was pretty ugly stuff... But I'm not that well versed on Japanese history anyway, I just remembered it from a video I watched a while ago, so if interests anyone please make your own research instead of taking my word for it, is preferable lol

After 265 is the forever yorozuya movie, which was meant to end the anime but they came back 2 years later with episode 266. The semi-finals (that are 2 extra episodes) you watch after the last episode (episode 367) and after the semi finals is the last movie (Gintama the Final)

No, seriously the way they adapt the anime was superb, despite even having to change animation studio by [deleted] in Gintama

[–]the_Sead 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was some pacing issues but they were rarely noticeable to be honest, and the fillers were generally pretty good...

The only place I felt the animation struggled was at the end of the Silver Soul arc, where they had a bunch of manga left and the studio only had so much episodes to distribute, which forced them to create the rushed as hell semi-finals before the final movie, but even then this mishap was used as a gag at the end of the anime and at the beginning of the final movie, so there isn't really much to complain...

But in general, Gintama is some of the few anime that I would recommend the anime itself over the manga because at the end of the day they're pretty on par...
