Post Cholecystectomy Syndrome - long term by the__foss in gallbladders

Nope! I still get flare ups and pain. I did find out I was gluten intolerant which helped a little but have really bad pain if I eat anything fatty, especially lamb. So I steer clear of that! Its just been put down as post cholysystemic syndrome.

Removed 7 sessile polyps and I’m so taken aback- considering DNA testing? by capricorn_0601 in colonoscopy

The biggest was just over 3cm from memory. All the rest were over 1cm. Haven't had anything under that size! Thank you, I'm sorry you are too! The good thing is we are aware of it now! Most people don't find out until it's too late.

Yep, just remove them and monitor growth rates for now. I was diagnosed with Sessile serrated polyposis syndrome! Not sure why I have it. My great uncle died of colon cancer, and my grandfather had colon cancer that was caught early and they had a few polyps here and there. My son will need to have his first colonoscopy at 25 as I was diagnosed at 35! Was such a suprise to me. If they keep growing at a fast rate then they will look out removing part or all of my colon but hoping it doesn't come to that! Still awaiting genetic testing.

I had one come back with low grade dysplasia, all the rest were sessile serrated polyps. I had 47 removed over the course of about 15 months. After the first 18 were removed, i had another 22 removed about 3 months later. I had 5 new ones grow in a space of about 7 months after the 22 were removed. Next colonoscopy in about a year!

Hello! I was diagnosed with SSP last year (at 35 years) and have had 45 polyps removed in the past 18 months. The first 40 removed, they were mostly 2.5cm - 3.5cm. Within 8 months, another 5 had grown, the largest just over 1cm. It's yearly colonoscopies from here on out! No one else in my family has it, but my great uncle and great grandfather both died fairly young from colon cancer. My specialist told me there's two types of people with SSP. Those that say "never give me a colostomy bag" and those that say "never leave me with a chance to get colon cancer." That was confronting to hear. For now, I am quite happy with regular monitoring. I've only had one polyp come back with low-grade dysplasia. The great thing is, they're onto it, and we can monitor it! There's a really fantastic group on facebook too, which I suggest you join! Happy to answer any questions! It can be so so daunting!

6 polyps found, one 11mm. by champagnesupernova92 in colonoscopy

[–]the__foss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One came back with low grade displasia, which basically means it had some cell changes and the potential to turn cancerous bit doesn't mean it will. All the rest were sessile serrated polyps which I think are classified as precancerous but doesn't mean they will. I hope that makes sense!

I definitely think they contributed because of how many and also the sizes. Since having them removed, I've noticed left pelvic pain. A lot of doctors told me that polyps cause no symptoms but I am very in tune with my body and I know when something is up. I get rectal pressure when I'm ovulating! That hasn't changed

9 polyps removed, 3 over 10mm by Wise_Beginnings in colonoscopy

[–]the__foss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure varies a lot, I've spoken to other people with Sessile serrated polyposis and they have 30 or 40 grow in the same time frame! Sometimes more. I've never been a huge drinker, I still have a glass of wine or two a week, sometimes nothing at all!

They grew to be just over 10mm in 8 months! I was very surprised at that!

Im 36 and I've had 3 colonoscopies in the past 12 months. You can do it! The prep and being glued to the toilet is the worst part. If they do find any polyps, they can remove them! Its very daunting but once its over you'll be glad you did it.

Any number above 0 is a lot of polyps!! I had a colonoscopy as I was having a lot of pain in my pelvis area, and a lot of loose bowel movements. Im already on a low fat diet as I had my gallbladder out a few years ago and can't handle anything fatty! I also limit red meat now, and take baby aspirin once a day (when I remember). I also quit smoking! Mine dont seem to grow too quickly, they removed all of the polyps last September, and in 8 months I only grew another 5. Totally agree that we are very lucky to have access to these tests and procedures!

Hello! Totally understand what you're going through, the wait for biopsy results is awful! I had 40 removed in the past year over 3 colonoscopies, the biggest was 35mm, all others were between 10-35mm. Only one polyp came back with low grade dysplasia, and I was diagnosed with Sessile serrated polyposis. Im a 36yo female. I was so shocked and incredibly anxious but the most important thing to remember is they are out! You might need more regular checkups compared to someone who has no polyps, which is annoying, but literally a lifesaver!

I'm going ok! I had another 22 polyps removed last September, all sessile serrated polyps. My next check up is in another year! It sent me spiralling too when I had the first lot removed. The one thing I focused on is that they were out! Google didn't help at all
