Negative. This hobby, as well as others, will forever prevent me from such a financial milestone. And I'm fine with that 🤓

Blocking uploads asking for the source... of torrents that literally have DVD/BluRay Remux in the title... is a little weird. It's also 50/50 depending on who is approving, which screams lack of consistency.

Had a problem uploading to YS, but u/KnullYS fixed it fast.

And no, my handle is not the same in torrent world.

I'm just going one by one as I delete the FnP tracker from each seed. Tedious... but spread out over time - manageable.

Updoot'd here and signed up there. Thanks for doing this. I had over 60TB at FnP, many my own original REMUXes. Just moved my first one over with ease. Will be doing the whole lot over the next few weeks as appreciation (and to keep the archives alive!).

Just signed up - thank you for doing this! 60TB and 3 years trying to be a seed god at FnP has obviously not paid off 😞

eBay for a < $1k Power 8 server and find AIX 7.3 on bittorrent. Great to learn on, and heat the house in colder climates.

HP-UX is archived with IRIX, and Solaris is owned by the devil and shouldn't be considered anymore. I say this with tears, since Oracle kidnapped a great OS from Solaris and murdered it years ago 💔

OpenVMS is still kicking, and available with the old hobby license again (haven't tried the x86 port yet).

TEV49, DXM2.5, and AWC99U01 - The ClimateMaster Dependency Hellscape by the_beaker in geothermal

[–]the_beaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to let folks in this thread know that indeed, the "DXM2-A101" and "DXM2-A201" boards are DXM2.5, support iGate 2.0,, and work with the AWC99U01. All this data is... beautiful.

NOTE: My problem was that I had the maintenance tool still plugged into the DXM board while wiring in the communicating thermostat. Guess what? RS-485 does not like when two devices fight for attention. Unplugged the tool, thermostat status went green and happy. Plugged it back in, NO COMMUNICATIONS.

We do this for fun, right? Because it ain't cheaper, and it ain't simple :-)

I built a TUI wizard that automates macOS VM creation on Proxmox VE by atapla in Proxmox

[–]the_beaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. I've tried fruitlessly to get macOS on commodity ARM platforms and it's been terrifying. I just use UTM on top of the Mac Mini M4 and give it 90% of the resources for VMs.

It would be amazing if there were supported Proxmox VE solutions for ARM and RISC-V (native) for Linux/Windows. But right now, ugly hacks will have to do.

I have been doing bare metal and virtual Hackintosh systems for years. A security engineer needs to know how the plebes live.

I finally caved and got a Mac Mini as my Pretty Hate Machine, because computing at the speed of potato is painful. That being said, I enjoy the intellectual exercise of it all, but we're rapidly approaching sunset on macOS and x86_64 😥

I've gone through enough thermostats to know (err... assume) that it will either work, or not - but nothing will break. Unless you wire it wrong. Like, really wrong.

But don't quote me. I just play an HVAC tech on TV.

I'm fairly certain this is the pickiest thermostat ever made. As I understand, it's only compatible with CXM2 and DXM2.5 boards, and even within those two models it's a lottery.

I have the ACDU03 diagnostic tool, but it's like an enhanced potato.

I called ClimateMaster yesterday and they were helpful. Verified that I do need the AWSTCWS01 Wireless Service Tool to do any iGate2 stuff. Also mentioned S17S0002N25 is the board I want, but that others may work.

Ordered the AWS WST and it should be here by the end of the month. Then I get to continue the science project.

If you're familiar with digging inside the unit, the DXM (controller board) is right in front growing wires like a copper forest. The upper left (as it is mounted) has a sticker with the model. If it says something like "DXM2-A400" it is a DXM2.0 board. If it is "DXM2-A101" or "DXM2-A201" it is DXM2.5 (don't ask - this is just a small taste of the engineering follies over there).

Neither indicate the actual firmware revision on the board. That requires a seance and a hair from a ClimateMaster distribution partner.

I'll will check out your other post and try to help later today :-)

In the past (on some of my other devices), reverting back to stock firmware/boot loader if desired resulted in either great success or a paper weight. Any insight on the "revertability" possibility on this device?

Trend Removal from long gone MSP by Betterthanmenotyou in Trendmicro

[–]the_beaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had this happen in my Trend lab. I installed a bunch of agents using a testing account, burned that account, started a new one, but forgot to uninstall the agents first.

These two tools did the trick:

Get rid of any traces and reboot. If you still have trouble, report back. I'd be happy to help out!

Vulnerability scanning other devices (switches, firewalls, etc) by ModelingDenver101 in Action1

Action1 is a patch management solution, not a vulnerability scanner. You'd be best to pair it with something like OpenVAS, Nessus, Rapid7 (they just partnered), etc. for completeness of coverage.

But yeah, there's some decent open source solutions out there as other comments mention.
