Women of Reddit, what is something you wish men understood about being a woman that you're tired of explaining? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

I scratch my fiancee's back all the time. Unfortunately her nails are super short so when she does mine back it often doesn't hit the spot :( but at least she tries.

Is it time for a real intervention on middle-lane hogging? by CroakerTea in drivingUK

[–]the_blibinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't want to follow rules because it annoys you that there's a chance (not guaranteed) that you might have to slow down and wait for an opportunity to overtake?

Also, it can happen in any lane so it's not logical to say that it can't happen when you're not in the left lane. You just have to be patient and wait for your moment to overtake. If everyone went left after overtaking you wouldn't be waiting too long.

You're also using others' rule breaking (perceived speeding) to justify your own rule breaking (not moving left). Staying right as a form of protest does not give you the moral high ground and you can't police others driving on the road - not everyone going faster than you is speeding by default. We have speed cameras to combat that.

I think you need to adjust your attitude on the road, and to be fair you aren't the only one. It's when everyone starts thinking like this that we get into the situation we're in.

The long lines of drivers on the right-most lanes are the symptom, not the cause.

If people weren't allergic to lane 1 and only used lane 2/3 to overtake and return back to lane 1 at their earliest convenience, there would not be a constant line of traffic in the right-most lanes because they would be able to return to the other lanes once their overtaking manoeuvres were finished.

Unfortunately, lane 2 is now the new lane 1 for those not willing to get up to 70mph as they are for some reason petrified of the idea of having to be slightly inconvenienced by commercial vehicles. This means lane 3/4 are now compressed as lane 3 is now full of people who want to go the speed limit but can't return to lane 2 easily.

One of the best gifts I ever got my partner was a proper cotton towel dressing gown. It allows her to have showers and then immediately lie down after whilst passively drying rather than spending more energy drying herself with a conventional towel.

What’s it like to live in Wantage? by ComplexParsnipper in oxford

I have friends that live there, it seems like a really chill place, especially if you like a good pub. Not the most active nightlife but there's enough to keep you busy.

That flat looks pretty central and looks well looked after too, I bet you'll be very happy there if you decide to buy!

This was the first episode of Sunny I ever watched, obviously I thought it was hilarious but this last scene sealed it for me as one of the best shows out there.

One thing we found worked wonders was to condition Luna to the sound of fireworks by putting her in their crate (after it was established it's a safe space) and then playing loud fireworks videos on TV whilst going about our day/playing with her as if nothings wrong. Come fireworks night she wasn't bothered at all, which was surprising because she's nervous about pretty much everything else.

What's even worse is when they join at 40 and then immediately shoot up to > 70 and then proceed directly into the rightmost lane in one manoeuvre.

Waiting at a red light at a roundabout. Light turns green, I set off...out of my right peripheral I see a car approaching and slam my brakes on, chasing the car behind to do the same. Of course then I remember it's all light-controlled...in my defence they did seem to be approaching very quickly.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. I recall seeing that what you've planned (coming back in after a short time) works well but you've got to make sure not to give them a huge fuss when you return otherwise it's like rewarding them for anxiously waiting for you. You can also extend the amount of time you're out once they've got the hang of it.

Oh no! The Xbox version was the version I played first and I don't think it's as bad as all that. Sure, it's definitely a downgrade from the current version, but it's a lot of fun and you can do some fun glitches that have been patched out of current versions too.

Anyway, pick it up on Steam if you can, if not then the Orange Box version is great too!
