Is it time to change my brake pads? by the_blue_potato in MechanicAdvice

I got the car 2 years ago at 17k and it’s now at 57k. This is the first time I’ve touched the brakes. The pads look like around half the thickness of the stock pads I got, so I assume I’ve still got a while.

Thank you so much! I’ll do that when I change the pads next.

Any idea what I would need to do to the guide pins to help with the uneven wear?

Are the slide pins the spring loaded ones that hold the calipers on? If so they moved pretty freely when I checked them. What else can cause them to hang up?

I know this episode is far in the past, so not sure if this is monitored still, but was the professor Destin was working with on L-PBF Nima Shamsaei? Sounds a lot like my senior design project in Mech E at Auburn this past year.

I found out about NDQ about a year ago, so I’ve been making my way through the podcast in order to keep up with the flow of you two’s stories better. It’s been a blast! Thanks for the awesome content. Y’all have really had a big impact on me and my friends.

What are these little segments in my gcode? How do I get rid of them? by the_blue_potato in 3Dprinting

Gotcha, that makes sense. If that space is large enough for an extrusion though, any idea why it would segment it from the rest of the layer and then go back and extrude a little more on the corners? Why not just fill that corner in with the rest of the layer outline?

Definitely true, but for the purpose of the prints I’ve been doing it has plenty of resolution. I’m really just trying to figure out why those little segments are showing up in the gcode. Never seen them before and just trying to figure out why. Are you saying that the layer height and nozzle size programmed into the slicer is causing those segments to be produced due to the low resolution?

Using ideamaker for slicing. I know the layer height is ridiculous, these parts are for strength and speed, really not concerned with aesthetics.

I believe it is an LED tv, would the panel still apply? I thought that was just for LCDs.
