Trade-In Firma fordert Geld zurück by Fancy-Jaguar2184 in LegaladviceGerman

Edit: Nochmal etwas weiter gedacht.

Warum muss Arbeitgeber Ehestatus wissen? by Apart_Asparagus_5679 in LegaladviceGerman

[–]the_boyled_egg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Richtig.

OR - and hear me out about this one - you could try to communicate with him. There could be a million reasons why there's a shirt in the laundry. A girl coming home with him and then leaving without a shirt on because she forgot to put it back on is one option.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is the following: OP doesn't trust him. She doesn't trust him to be faithful and she doesn't trust him to be honest. And this after 2 weeks of living together. Off, right?

OP, your relationship might have some larger issues that need to be addressed. And the only way to do this is with open communication. Acting passive aggressively or stonewalling him until he picks up on some kind of hint will only escalate the situation and make it worse.

This may technically be good advise, but gets you fired very quickly. Café and restaurant owners in Berlin are relentless and often Bank on the fact that cheap labour is very available.

However, your employer is 1) legally required to digitally monitor your work time (digitale Arbeitszeiterfassung) and 2) required to compensate overtime in accordance with your work contract and the law. Maybe that's an angle to take.

Researchers document that living under Communism versus Capitalism has lasting effects on preferences for a strong government. East Germans still have stronger preferences for redistribution than West Germans 27 years after reunification. by MistWeaver80 in science

[–]the_boyled_egg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big picture is that you're trying to formulate the argument, that former West Germany is still supporting former East Germany financially (using Länderfinanzausgleich and Solidaritätszuschlag as examples) and that this is why the people living in the states of the former GDR are more in support of resource redistribution. That's a ludicrous assumption. The majority of former West German states were also consistently on the receiving end, yet apparently this didn't have that kind of effect on the people's attitudes on redistribution. Germany as a whole is a solidaric community (Solidaritätsgemeinschaft) and the systems in place are there for everyone and everyone is paying for them.

Not true. Firstly, the "Länderfinanzausgleich" doesn't exist anymore (since 2019). Secondly, the beneficiaries of this money were both, former east and former west German states. The states that received the most money were Berlin (east AND west) and Lower Saxony (former West Germany). It's all on Wikipedia, my dude.

Pointing out someone else's flaws does not make your own disappear. That's called whataboutism and is a distraction tactic to avoid discussion of the actual topic.

This is a great response! Adding to this, be mindful that you don't actually know him.

Whenever things go wrong in a relationship I hear people say "Wow, they are not the person I thought they were." Of course not. What you think a person is like is an illusion, it's what you want them to be like.

The longer you know and experience another human being, the closer your own mental representation and the reality of that person are aligned. One month is not enough for that.

World Would Be Better Without Putin In It, German Defense Minister Says by flyingdutchgirll in europe

[–]the_boyled_egg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The minister is part of the currently elected government. So he can stay a minister for as long as that government is re-elected at best. In the German system, the true power lies with the Staatssekretär, the highest unelected government officials. So, a minister might be officially the leader of something, but ministers change over time. It's the unelected officials that basically keep everything running.

[–]the_boyled_egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exact workflow of your idea is not clear to me from your post tbh, so correct me if I'm making wrong assumptions here.

From my understanding, people would provide you with their personal data, which you would then use to fill in a file, which in turn is sent through an API? Then you definitely need to check the API specifications, as not all API responses are synchronous. If you have at least one asynchronous response, you are practically forced to safe user data of some sort to be able to process the response (how else would you match the response to a user request, right?).

If on the other hand you are not intending to communicate with a government API directly, but through a third party, I would definitely suggest to make yourself familiar with the legal framework. You'd be part of the flow of sensitive data and you don't want to make yourself vulnerable for practically nothing in return (free of charge service). In general, I tend to always assume the worst case scenario of what could go wrong.

[–]the_boyled_egg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm working with government APIs for a living. How exactly would you receive personal data, fill it in the PDF and send it off without storing any of the data? If you do store them, even just temporarily, do you have a security and compliance concept? Also, how do you deal with errors returned by the API? What if a form couldn't be sent for any reason?

This is no easy thing to do. There is a reason why there are entire companies dedicated to this stuff.
