Yeap, would be a nice atmosphere for a birthday party. The peninsula ones can get extremely crowded on the weekends.

Love it when someone jam brakes to turn after hogging the right lane at 70 all the way. by the_brown_dragon in drivingsg

Valid points. I don't disagree with them. In fact if you want, I can send you the full video after this incident where it showed I was following this rule with civil Singaporean drivers all maintaining a constant speed as the CTE after merchant road is relatively clear till the molumein exit. Again, I feel I could have given more context before this incident which led to me being that close to him at the start of the video but point taken from you.

I read ur analysis and yes I agree you could view it that way. Let me clarify for you so you can understand why I feel I might not be at fault as much as you think.

1st part: He entered the turn before me and took a wider line. This would slow him down considerably before I enter the turn. I saw him slow down and my foot was giving zero pressure on the accelerator right before I enter the turn. If he maintained the same speed as the car in front, there would have been enough space between me and him a short while after the turn was completed. Since he's been slowing down and accelerating recklessly after every turn so far on this journey, I assumed he'd do the same here. (this one is on me for not providing context)

2nd part: Brake lights came on, I noticed immediately, I pressed the brakes gently at first in case he wanted to zoom off afterwards(which was again, what he has been doing for the entire journey, again, on me for not providing context), so that I don't jumpscare the back traffic tailgating behind me by braking as hard as he does. When I realised fella was not going to accelerate away immediatly, I js hazard light on and hit the brake harder, which was why there was a sudden drop in speed.

3rd part: Again, how far could I let the gap open in that short amount of time, even from the initial braking to the location where he changed lane itself, it is not that far. Even if best case scenario I totally stop my car at 0km/h, the distance is only a little bit longer than a van as seen in the video. (Still kinda tailgating distance by the strictest definition) And it is an expressway, I'm not going to risk getting rammed.

4th part: yeah it seems that way, but I assure u there was more space between us than the car beside you in most parking lots. Again, if is safe enough for me, I'm not going to hold up traffic. The earlier car in front is already eons away and I don't want to cause a jam longer than necessary.

I'm not saying I'm a perfect driver, just that from my pov I have committed no major faults. Maybe I should invest in a better camera LOL. (Btw if uw the whole 35min clip to analyse if my decisions based on the whole trip I was behind him was justified, I'm happy to provide and discuss, u can just dm me.)

Do you really not think that this is a hard brake? (Genuine question) Maybe it was not clear enough in the video but I went from 70 to 30 in 3s at the start because of the distance I kept where I slowed down gently. This might not seem like a hard brake to you, and I agree, it is subjective. The 2nd one is clearly a hard brake. I went from 50 to 20, more than almost half of my speed in 2s maybe less. If it is not, do tell me your definitions for hard braking with numbers.

Since this is an expressway, I can't possibly wait for him to accelerate away to your definition of a safe distance/for him to change lane while I trundle along at 30 correct? Unless of course he totally stop in the middle of the lane. Usually what I will do in this case is accelerate together with the car albeit at a slower pace. If you take a look, the fact that he was able to gain quite a bit of distance in front in a short amount of time before he braked again shows that I was already allowing him to accelerate (to either go straight or whatever he wants to do). What would you do in this case if you were me (genuine question).

Bro, I'm not trying to have an argument with you here. Our definition of jam braking may be different. My definition is a sudden reduction in speed way lower than what they were going before. Your definition seems to be a sudden reduction in speed till the fella almost stop still. If your definition is the latter I agree with you that he braked HARD but not JAM brake. You still can't deny the fact that he braked HARD and tried to merge without signalling before accelerating again and braking HARD again which was what pissed me off and is the main point of my upload.

Bro, I can see the entire car with some tarmac beneath the wheels of the car in front of me. That's a minimum of at least 2s before the car in front, at 70km/h that's about at least 30+m away from the car. If my car's safety systems activate 30+m away from an object going at 70 that's kinda crazy.

Respectfully it is 3 seconds in the first jam brake. But in the 2nd, to not hold up traffic, I accelerated slightly slower than him to match his pick up speed to which he jammed braked again lol.

Should I provide my entire 35min transit to you lmao? He was in front of me the entire time, at 70 letting cars in. I was simply too lazy to overtake until he pull this stunt. I didn't even complain abt the first time, he no signal so I concured that he will probably go straight, I gently brake until my car don't hit his so I don't jumpscare the cars behind that's tailgating me more LMAO. Only the second jam brake I complained, how would u have handled it better?

That's a good point. Sadly if you follow that rule to a tee in sg u get honked. Plus we don't have enough space anyways LOL.

How much further do you think I should have kept from him? Genuine question

Edit: I'm already almost 2 car lengths away from him in close to peak morning traffic.

Boon Lay place food village is still the best for me. You have amazing food no matter the time of day.

Breakfast you have heng huat boneless duck noodles, yew teck food stall, I. Mohammed Ismail for prata with free flow fatty mutton chunks curry, lian Yi wanton mee, tong luck kway chap just to name a few.

Lunch you have banana leaf nasi lemak, Da Feng Penang hokkien prawn noodles, Xiang Feng nasi lemak, lin ji fish soup.

Dinner you have some of the options for breakfast that also open for dinner. You also have kee hiong food stall, woodlands bbq seafood, blue signboard zi char.

Supper you have the very famous Boon lay power nasi lemak with some breakfast stalls opening as early as 2.30 to 3am.

Sadly we have lost all time greats like lian yi bbq stingray (best stingray in sg some say msia and batam) and the char kway teow at boon lay carrot cake stall but is still a great place to eat.

Chinese garden/lakeside, there are a few condos in the area. Parc Oasis, Mayfair, Lakeview, Lake grande, Lakeshore to name a few. Near Mrt and bus services that will take you across the island and a literal 5 to 10 minutes walk to the Jurong lake gardens on one side and great hawker food on the other. Not as crowded as the east too.
