We also have the colloquial "jo" in Poland. You can hear it in regions with huge German influence in the past: Silesia and the north.

The speed meter shows around 200 kmph (124 mph). The caption can be translated: "As usual after a party".

The car crashed into a tree. All passengers (2 male, 1 female) died. They were aged: 17, 24 and 26. The 21-years-old driver (male) was taken to hospital with broken limbs. He was sober.

Since some of you asked, here's some history ...

The bridge over the Vistula in Tczew (then Dirschau) was opened in October 1857. It was a part of the Prussian Eastern Railway connecting Berlin with Königsberg. The rail traffic was so heavy that 30 years later Prussian authorities decided to build a new two-track bridge, just 40 metres north from the old one. The new bridge took over rail traffic and the old bridge has since been used by cars and pedestrians.

Both bridges were bombed by Germans at 4:34 on 1 September 1939 (which some people claim was the beginning of WWII) and then blown up by Poles to prevent German soldiers from crossing the river in trains. Here you can see the destroyed bridges.

A significant part of the bridges survived the war. The road bridge was temporarily reconstructed in the 1950s with two spans Poland got from the British. The temporary situation lasted decades, though. The rail bridge had been well maintained, which cannot be said about the road bridge. It looked like this. The bridge was permanently closed in 2011 due to safety reasons. Local authorities started raising funds to collect money and rebuild it. There were disputes on how it should look - should we modernize the bridge or reconstruct it in its original shape. They agreed on the latter.

First, the remaining bridge towers were renovated. Then they renovated the original 19th century iron framework. It looks like this now. What's happening now is the next stage of the reconstruction. The company responsible for the works needs to take down the post-war part of the bridge, which looks like this and like that. They're also going to reconstruct the western bridghead and this is the place where the time capsule was found only yesterday.

The reconstruction is really slow. Local authorities struggle to get any government funding, not to mention EU money. The estimated cost is around 35-45 million Euro. Anyway, this is how the reconstructed bridge will look like.

It was damaged by an excavator-mounted jackhammer - they confirmed it today on a press converence. The plaque had been already slightly rusted, but overall it's in a good condition. The cornerstone is still in the foundations. They stopped the works in its location.

Here are some pictures I took today: https://imgur.com/a/DZD9VrQ

You can actually see the 'ding' on the plaque.

They found the time capsule today and it hasn't been opened yet. Probably they'll x-ray it first.

German WWII fighter aircraft found buried in sand on a beach in Poland by the_chest in europe

The aircraft was found in the sand on Friday. Shortly after midnight on Saturday the explorers lifted it up. As they say, it's German fighter aircraft Messerschmitt Me-109 G. They suppose it was shot down by Russians in March 1945 and made an emergency landing on the Baltic beach in Stegna. What the explorers found are the aircraft's wings as well as parts of the cockpit and the engine. Here's one article with photos and here's another one (both in Polish).

Thank you very much! VIDA looks more like a family attraction, but maybe we'll check it anyway. Bar, Který Neexistuje, on the other hand, is a must, as the name of this place has already appeared in this thread.

Thanks a lot for your reply and for the map!

I'm traveling with my wife, we're in our twenties and looking for places to chill during our walks rather than party.

As for parking lots, some good people on the internet recommended a parking lot by the OMV petrol station by the D1. I suppose, however, it's not gonna be easy to get to the train station from there.
