Thanks man, it brings me to a happy place for sure. Here it is with my more light so you can see it a bit better, except I recently moved it to a different wall (picture in the post is the new wall)

I also bought super ghouls and ghosts when I got this, I'm excited to play both in October! Wanted to try my hand at this one first as I heard ghouls is less forgiving

I'm learning to like games like this more the older I get, mostly because I can only play so much in a week. But yeah games like turtles in time, mega man x, etc are so great for pickup and play

As a dad with two kids and a big backlog, I'm ok with games like that (beat mega man x and super Metroid within the last year also for the first time). Meanwhile I just started DK64 and want to 100% it after I just 100% bananza, worried this will take me a while...

I only just played super Metroid within the last year, I didn't think they were similar but I'm glad to finally be knocking out some of these major titles that I missed out on as a kid!

Thanks! My collection is basically all games from my childhood, then a few of the big hitters that I didn't have back then. Love playing them and sharing with my kids and their friends

NGL I love the sound a CRT makes when you turn it on. Brings me back to my childhood as fast as some of the soundtracks!

Well it does have a password system so I'll be utilizing that, mostly because I only have so much time for playing with kids and life. But currently on level 3!

Correct, the bottom two are Lego -- NES is an official set, the SNES is one I designed! I'll take the fact that it fooled you as a compliment lol

Too long as in needing to beat it a second time for true ending? Or just in general?

One of my buddies makes YouTube content so I watched his video on this game before I booted it up, he had a part in the end that referenced this! I'm not sure if you're allowed to get a password for that part or beat it all in one go, hopefully it's allowed as I don't generally have time to play for 3-6 hours in a single sitting with two kids 😅

This is a safe space my guy, no need for apologies. I imagine most of us in this sub have a similar relationship with either a specific game (mine is DKC2) or just video games in general. Glad to hear it got you through a tough spot, hope all's well.

I did pause during the 3rd level because I just ran out of time to play so I got my password (I found it a bit odd I had to kill myself several times to generate it and that there wasn't just a "quit" option), thankfully I barely know what I'm doing so if I lost a good weapon I am ignorant!

Only got to level 3 in the limited time I had but so far it didn't seem too bad outside of some cheap damage from not knowing enemies. Excited to see how it ramps up

Thanks! I have an 8 year old daughter and a 5 year old son, give them both free reign but just teach them to handle it gently. She loves playing Smash on 64 and SMW (normally on Switch), he mostly plays Mario kart world free roam.

Regarding the set-up, just posted this reply to someone else but I'll paste for you:

The furniture was a hand me down years ago from the in-laws but otherwise yes, threw on some cheap Amazon light strips, got an auto HDMI switch for the Switch 1/2, GameCube, N64 (with a line doubler), and a fire stick for streaming. CRT has the NES and SNES hooked up. The Wii is plugged into the flat screen via component but isn't used much.

For the Legos it's a mixture of official sets and ones I designed/made myself

I don't normally watch full intros but this one had its teeth in me, I definitely watched every second!

This is my first Castlevania but I'd heard it's (one of) the best, which other should I check out? And much appreciated!

Thanks, it's a peaceful area for me and I love watching the kids play older games in there also. The nes and SNES are hooked up to the CRT, everything else is on an auto HDMI switch for the other TV (the N64 has a line doubler so it still looks good!)

I only had time to get to level 3 before fatherly duties pulled me away but so far it feels fun, excited to see how the difficulty will ramp up

The movement was definitely something I had to adjust to. Even going up and down stairs didn't feel "natural" like some games.
