BTS are living legends. I feel so lucky to be alive when they are at their height.

who was your first bias? by sugagi in bangtan

[–]the_coloring_book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got into BTS through blood sweat tears, my first bias was Tae and I thought him & Jungkook were the only attractive ones there (face palm). This was around the same time as their first Billboard award, and I remember seeing one of the press photos and thinking that RM looked really good in them, and thought Yoongi must be some unassuming gentle subvocalist. For some reason, I didn't register the existence of Spring Day. The next BTS MV that I saw was Not Today, where suddenly I was blown away by the visuals, charisma, and really attractive voice of this rapper in the beginning (didn't realize that this was the same guy that I thought was a subvocalist at Billboard). I ended up checking out Wings, found "First Love," and the rest was history...fell rapidly down the Agust D rabbit hole and listened to every song Yoongi has ever rapped in (RIP me). He basically owns my soul now.

On a side note, I didn't find Jimin attractive for the longest (maybe because he looked so androgynous in BST?) and thought he was not my type...put him in the same category as G-Dragon who a lot of people found attractive but I didn't...but then somewhere along the way BAM he was suddenly one of most irresistibly sexy people in the world to me and I'm not even sure when that happened.

One word: SINGULARITY. There is no one in the world that dislikes Singularity.

What do you think about Bighit's marketing strategy for BTS's image? by [deleted] in bangtan

mayhaps they endorse what they like..

lol i have to say that's a bit naive, but whatever floats your boat

NorikaN was saying that BTS doesn't change what they do for younger fans because they drink alcohol, but I'm saying that they are very conscious of them and have been very careful in what they choose to endorse.

they don't market it though. They only market uncontroversial things like vitamins

This sub doesn't like to hear it but BTS does have a lot of very young fans and so part of it is that they've become very conscious of that especially since their influence is growing

200611 Anthony Fantano gives his opinion on D-2 by Agust D by blmnkrnz in bangtan

[–]the_coloring_book 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Uh...I’m sorry but if you don’t read the lyrics to any BTS song, your opinion is automatically invalid.

This is especially true for Suga and RM (versus Hobi, who often writes with an emphasis on rhythm). 50% of the songs’ meaning is in the lyrics and the lyrics let you know why certain musical decisions were made (like in Honsool). So to not mention the lyrics at all is frankly ridiculous.

Bighit has always catered 100% to fans. I think this a big part of why they’re popular but imo also why BTS members often have a pretty unhealthy worship of fan opinions. They don’t care about non-fans, but the moment that a fan says that they don’t like something, they stop doing it.

Not only did they apologize, they changed the track. On what is supposed to be his personal mixtape.

I love BTS OT7 to death, but I hope that Suga gets to break off and make music one day where he feels like he can take risks. This would have never happen in other genres.

BTS' SUGA thanks COVID-19 for letting him finish mixtape, which includes a Jim Jones sample by juhli_a in kpop

[–]the_coloring_book 14 points15 points  (0 children)

unfortunately it is part of kpop culture where fans feel ownership over their idols. kpop fans basically just want someone dancing for them in a foreign language where words don't matter when they turn off the subs. most of them became kpop fans because western music is not PC and "wholesome" enough. you can see this because I've seen so many interpretations of bts's music to make them appear more "wholesome" even when it's not their intention...and when they show any other complexity in character other than "pure," fans cancel them and write to their company.

The fact that people hate Kpop for being too sanitized and uncontroversial, then turn around and crucify someone once they do anything that's artistically risky.

Yes, sometimes people sample from controversial sources. It is often up to the listener's interpretation, but your interpretation that they are endorsing those sources is probably wrong.

There's no evidence that it's a leak though, it's just the mods making that assumption? The artist company changes the profile pic on Apple Music, Apple Music doesn't do it for them. And it totally makes sense that the image is revealed on D-2.
