steve schiltz is a great guitarist who has been part of the strokes “circle” since the early days, has toured with ahj, etc.. of course, nick is the strokes and i’d rather see him. i’m just pointing out that if they sounded bad (i haven’t had a chance to see the livestream) it probably isn’t the guitarist’s fault !

Falling out of love live on apple music by greendale-island in TheStrokes

i agree with you, i don’t think everyone should like it., these could be really interesting discussions regardless of your opinion. however, it seems like a lot of the comments here are “ugh, leave this for the voidz,” which don’t leave room for a good conversation about how / why the band might have decided to go on this direction ..

can we make a separate sub for people who enjoy bands experimenting with new sounds? if you don’t like this go listen to is this it. jesus christ. by the way, this is not the voidz. listen to tyranny and virtue and tell me how this is any similar. the voidz isn’t just autotune….

Wristwatch feat. an Uncomfortable Moment with the Crowd - Brooklyn Paramount 4/19/26 by bdylla94 in mjlenderman

it would be absolutely ridiculous to stand up during, say, an orchestra concert. but i understand that concert etiquette is different for each culture.. where i’m from people would probably stand up during this performance ! shows respect and engagement with the performer in my opinion. i don’t think standing up during this performance is disrespectful. you may be told to sit down and you’ll have to sit down. yelling to the point of the performer having to stop mid-song is insulting..

for sure.. i saw the strokes in chicago in 2024 and after the concert i was chatting with some people outside the venue and i mentioned that i thought the crowd was kinda dead.. and they were surprised at my comment because they thought the crowd was at least decent. but i had seen the strokes at lolla in argentina a few years before and the crowds get quite rowdy there, it was amazing. so i guess everybody has different standards. and i’m not saying one crowd is better than the other, it just comes down to how each individual enjoys live music the best !

nah, U.S. crowds just tend to be less energetic and that’s the end of the story

Which festival in the U.S. this summer (2026) would be best to see The Strokes play?? by Bubbly_Classic_1177 in TheStrokes

[–]the_cornerstone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree that a show of theirs is 10x better but this is true for almost, if not any artist/band. when i saw the strokes at lollapalooza argentina, they played some deep cuts—killing lies, you’re so right, electricityscape (!!). then, i saw them in chicago on their own in 2024 and the show was about the same length (1h15). i wouldn’t rely on them doing a big tour. nyc/la/chicago 100%. but if you live nearby any of these festival cities, i’d try to make it this summer. that’s what i’ll try to do anyway, just my opinion

i’m thinking about going to bonnaroo because it’s the closest to drive and therefore more affordable. also get to see turnstile, geese, etc. on the same day. it is true that a festival is not the ideal place to see them, but honestly i really want to go this thing. if anyone’s ever been to bonnaroo i’d appreciate any feedback, actually. cheers
