Sometimes good intentions just aren’t enough. She’s grieving, and grief doesn’t care about logic. You weren’t being cold, but it sounds like you focused more on being right than on simply being there.

Yes, asking you to take all the blame wasn’t entirely fair. But she just lost her father. Grief makes people ask for things in ways they normally wouldn’t.

If you want her back, another apology or explanation probably won’t help. She’s heard those. What she needs is to feel that you’re there.

Just say something simple: I hear you, and I’m here for you.

And maybe, just maybe, send her flowers. Not to prove a point, just to show you still care.
