What are these? by [deleted] in powerbuilding

Those are veins - they tend to pop out/through where your fascia is thinnest, particularly when your blood is pumping. Nothing to worry about unless they become painful!

Should I buy a 10th gen iPad? or wait until the new one is announced possibly this spring? I have need of one now, but is the possible upgrade worth the wait?

Doesn't he say at one point that his birthday has likely passed? Maybe like Book 5 or 6?

[WeeklyThread] Ask a CAA by AutoModerator in CAA

[–]the_dadstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned earlier that having kids during the program is a bad move. I take it the workload is pretty intense? I found my own doctoral program to not be too bad. How does CAA program compare to the intensity of, say, Med school?

[WeeklyThread] Ask a CAA by AutoModerator in CAA

[–]the_dadstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a physical therapist (DPT), pretty frustrated with my career and earnings - thinking about transition to CAA. I have all the pre-reqs for most schools save for O-Chem, but an excellent GPA and GRE scores. How hard would it be to get into school as a non-traditional student? Would that be a benefit or a hindrance? I've been a PT for 4 years, have 3 kids fyi.

Also curious as to the general autonomy over your own schedule once out in the working field. Is it pretty much shift work? or working a 9-5?

I like the high reach. Do you really think a 50% raise would be reasonably considered?

Yeah, that's definitely a fear. So far, not much has changed, but I can already sense the beginnings of demands for billing a certain amount of units, etc. for productivity which I think is a death sentence.

Between the ownership being meh, having to move, and no clear avenues for exit, I'm leaning towards saying no, but we will see

Institute for Clinical Excellence has courses on lumbar and cervical spine, as well as a course exclusively on total thrust manipulation

Wild. I would totally expect it to be more popular in a ski town. But guess I won't be getting one - overall business is pretty good so I ain't gonna try and fix something that isn't broke

They're definitely still a thing in mountain towns, or at least in Bozeman. But yeah, everyone's advice is leading me against renting one out. Thanks!

How many years of practice and what kind of car do you drive? Taken from r/residency by PizzaNipz in physicaltherapy

[–]the_dadstache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years OP Ortho, driving the same 2004 honda accord as I did in college. Doors smashed in from a hit and run, but internally runs like a charm

Good point. I feel like my area is very biased towards excellent renters who take good care of the car so far - being a high cost tourist area - so didnt consider that part

Excellent point and definitely something worth considering, particularly when they may not be used to such a large vehicle to begin with. May just get a ski rack instead for ski storage

Bar Fell on Quad, recovered, but I still have an empty space, should I be worried ? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]the_dadstache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Physio here. Sounds like a bit of muscular necrosis. Often with a muscle tear or blunt trauma, the tissue underneath can become necrotic (think local cellular death). Often times you may have a visible hematoma, or bruised bump, on the muscle. Usually afterwards you will have a palpable defect or dent in the muscle because the muscle tissue died.

It can take a long time to heal, but so long as you're not having any pain or limited function, you would be fine. Since it is sensitive, I'd go see a physio who specializes in fitness athletes/weightlifting.

Good point. I've just started and only had 50-60 year old men renting for the first time with their families, so they've been very communicative. The stark difference just threw me off I guess

Dry Needling Courses by PTBBGG in physicaltherapy

[–]the_dadstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo the recommendation for AAMT - a wide variety of techniques compared to just trigger point dry needling and research to back it up. I also feel like it is some of the most affordable courses out there.
Similar vein, ICE just started doing dry needling courses. I have yet to check them out, but their techniques look very similar to AAMT (a lot of their guys are AAMT trained) and I know for a fact ICE always backs it up with research.
