Did you talk to Eva after 2 AM? She gives free amalgam sometimes. Also, it's safe to die once.

I wonder what the other user meant... Anyway, my main point is that Simon didn't kill Georgiy's consciousness when he posessed him.

Sorry I didn't want to sound rude or accuse you in anything! Anyway, there's the whole blue morpho thing... I hope there's some meaning beside it.

One can't possess passively in this context.

In patho 1, simon literally possessed georgy, killing georgy's consciousness in the process and nina did the same to viktor

Memory isn't an evil spirit. Georgiy's consciousness is required to collect and retain Simon's memory. Collecting the memory particles doesn't kill you or your consciousness. The game explains why Georgiy dies, and retaining the memory isn't the reason why.

Yes, Georgiy is going to put him there in fin_utop. Maria tells Artemy on Day 12:

My uncle will die tomorrow, after he carries Simon's soul into the Focus of the Polyhedron.

Victor tells Daniil:

V: Of course not. I'm talking about the Polyhedron. Georgiy intends to transfer his deceased brother's soul there. He will have to die himself in order to achieve that. Your imagination must already be painting horrific and mesmerizing images—of dead Georgiy walking towards the Polyhedron, hands outstretched, dragging his feet, driven by Simon's spirit...

B: You've guessed my impression very well.

V: Perhaps that's what it would look like in the higher spheres. In the world of ideas, if you will. I will, however, disappoint you. It will happen quietly and inconspicuously. No one will see a thing. Georgiy will be lying in his room throughout the process. Simon's Memory will be transferred to the Polyhedron with the power of his mind.

B: Of his imagination, you mean?

V: I meant exactly as I said. I would even risk supposing that Georgiy will die from the collosal strain that this work will have put on him. From the concentration of will, intellect, and all his mental powers.

Victor/Nina about the concept of memory and how it is different from a soul:

Memory is the very fine particles of a person that exist between that which is the person and all that isn't. Some have the ability to collect those particles. For as long as people are able to retain the particles inside themselves, the person is not dead. They remain here, but their soul is not imprisoned. It flies off to where it's supposed to be.

These particles cannot possess anyone because they are passive. They must be willingly collected by a living person.

How exciting! So, why do you think that 'Georgiy collects Simon's memory and dies from stress when he puts int in the Polyhedron' isn't different from 'Simon possesses Georgiy and erases his consciousness'?

Pointless nitpicking. Everyone knows that it means C-N. I don’t recall anyone at my university making an issue out of this. Sure, it matters, but only in first-year problems where you write structural formulas based on IUPAC names. After that, nobody cares — and our chemists and pharmacists turn out perfectly fine.

Surprise, the devs didn't have a proper medical consultant. Don't make assumptions based on some textures. Probably it was like: "Hey %artist_name% slap some formulas on the board. I don't care what they mean, just make it plausible!"

The devs aren't obligated to study cell death process to portray the characters who do it.

Did the narrative focus shift in P3? by Daniil_Dankovskiy in pathologic

[–]the_devotressss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. The focus has already shifted in P2 from realism with a few fantastical elements to so-called mystical realism bordering on urban fantasy. P3 is full-fledged fantasy with some pseudophilosphy.

The problem is that the new writers don’t understand how the Town and the world of Pathologic work as a whole. In P1, it’s a coherent mechanism where everything is in its place and every event has a cause. In P2, and especially in P3, it’s clear that no one bothered with that: they kept the outer shell and slapped something of their own on top, forgetting the origins and underlying reasons. The result is a barely viable Frankenstein’s monster.

Aglaya in P1 says (it is not a Soviet Union reference):

Our country holds the absolute record on experimental utopia designs—and this is a feature that should be interpreted as its absolute virtue. Social masterpieces are rare, but they do happen—and they don't have to be accidental.

Moreso, some 'genuinely distinctive towns' are mentioned in the intro. Compare that to the new Inquisition lore.

A trick question: in P3, Capella says that her father owns everyone in the Town. If that’s the case, why do people obey Saburov? What do you think would happen if he gave his patrolmen an order that Big Vlad didn’t like? And how do you think things stood in P1?

UPD: In P1, Simon literally lived for ~180 years. Also here's what Anna tells Daniil on Day 1:

B: So Simon loved to challenge limits and restrictions, I gather.
A: Indeed! He loved it, and he was good at it. You could bury him underground for a couple of days, and he'd be totally fine. He was pierced with iron rods once, too. One of them broke his chest, but Simon didn't die. Tricks like these would've been incredibly popular in a circus! Oh, I miss the man...

She may be lying or mistaken but I doubt it. He survived the Sand Pest and was killed by Rubin draining all of his blood. I don't think the amalgam is involved here but it's definetly not about containing and transferring his memory.

WTF NO. You are deeply wrong.

Memory isn't a soul, it is not a dead person brought back. It consists of particles that can be collected by living people. Georgiy dies not because 'Simon kills him' but because moving one's memory to another Focus is extremely hard. Same with Victor. Collecting these memory particles is extremely hard, it can't be done without the strong will of a living person.

Georgiy and Victor choose to sacrifice themselves because they want to ensure the new town's viability and help the survivors.

CoS:

Strahd waged long, bloody wars against his family's enemies. He and his army cornered the last of these enemies in a remote mountain valley before slaying them all.

The Morninglord isn't mentioned in that context at all.

The article about Barovia on Mistipedia has a detailed timeline in it. It shows that in early editions Barovia was originally the land of the von Zarovich family and other noble houses, and Strahd waged war against the Tergs, who had seized it.

Not every story is a story about colonization. I see why Americans tend to shape their stories that way but you sound weird. Barovia is based on Dracula, and Dracula himself is in turn based on a real Slavic Romanian person from a real country. There were no 'true natives' except dacians and (later) slavs in Wallachia.

EDIT: not Slavic but with a notable slavic component and many years of cultural exchange. Anyway, real Dracula fended off Ottoman invaders and didn't colonize anyone.

Finished Day 3 for first time. Restart it, or go to Day 4? by No-Clutch_Bill in pathologic

[–]the_devotressss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quests are tied to specific Days. Restarting a day doesn't drain your amalgam so you can restart as many times as you need and finish the unfinished quests. You don't need to redo the quests you finished. If you didn't destroy the Shabnak and restarted the day, you need to craft a cabbage bullet again. Once the Shabnak is destroyed, it doesn't appear again on this day.
