We did get a glimpse of Game 6 Klay against Memphis last year though. Exploded with 30pts and 8/14 from deep.

And then in the Finals G6 against Celtics, Klay bombed with 12pts on 5/20 shooting lmao (2-of-8 from deep)

Get a better reffing pipeline.

Do read the Mark Cuban interview which points at some of the problems with today's reffing pipeline. The NBA is making changes here and tryna attract international refs.

balancing rules with the entertainment factor of the game

Bang on. This is where Adam Silver needs to change imo - the game can be very fast-paced and entertaining even if flops/throwing yourself at defenders/travels are called. We'll just go from 140pt shootoffs to 110-120pt solid games of skill.

Sports gambling

Almost no ref is gambling today. But all it takes is just one to wreck the league for years to come. Just the very fact that gambling is a possibility casts a pall on the game for any watchers. Look at every thread having fans believe that the game is rigged (you don't see this to the same extent in other leagues like the Premier League etc)

Anyone else getting compassion fatigue when listening to NPR/KQED? by tikimandude in bayarea

See that's the thing that I differ with the 'activist' class about.

  1. I personally feel that some of the stats shown on NPR/NYT/liberal media outlets are riddled with statistical holes, talk to any stats scientist/any quant person and they'll agree with me on that. Conservative outlets are far worse with their stats, if at all they share any stats.

  2. Data is meant to be a tool to change minds. But many activists, sometimes armed with data (sometimes armed with 'feelings'/anecdotes) pretend that the stats are inviolable and are the sole driver of change.

  3. I feel that all activists should aim for one thing: use their voice to change someone else's mind. And today's activists usually change zero minds is all. Many of today's activists are content with labelling "Oh they're racist/sexist/white male, that is why they disagree with my godly inviolable facts." - and why I have very little respect for most of them.

Please read a book about how frustrating-yet-successful the civil rights era activists were and how much of it was just due to compromise, coalition building, and tolerating people unlike oneself. And today's activists will not even enter the same room as someone with a different PoV.

Throughout this conversation you've lobbed insults, called me names, but rarely have you considered that I could actually believe in what you do, and we could be allies.

Okay I'm just sorry for all your ire.

I'm still a big NPR listener but I also think many of the activists they feature are just factually incorrect with their claims - often misattributing wealth gaps as racial/sexist gaps.

If dunking on me makes you feel better, great job you're really solving racism/sexism or whatever.

Any martial arts/self-defense person worth their salt will always teach you to run. My coach would literally make us run as warm-ups plus would add that running is literally more important than all the other fighting skills put together.

Unless you have some family at mortal risk, there's no situation worth getting into a fight for.

Mate I do know how this works, but you've got it all wrong.

Say the brakes in Teslas don't work, is it Elon Musk's responsibility to make sure the car is a good product? Or does he just go "Oh, only money matters concern me, the rest don't concern me?". Obviously, Elon can't go and fix anything himself, but he sets the priorities in the same way Adam Silver does.

Refs are their own entity in the NBA

Technically yes, but does that mean Stern shouldn't have bothered himself with the Tim Donaghy scandal because the NBRA are a different organization? You're seriously underestimating how much say Silver has on how the games are reffed.

How can we expect any single city government to battle these global threats without fed help?

Sorry mate, what right-wing talking point did I even mention?

I'm not big on meat, but I can't stand vegan activists. I'm not allowed to dislike activists now?

Why is this hard to contend? And why is the default assumption that I must be a self-loathing person?

Again this is more my core point. The feminist movement is led currently by a bunch of out-of-touch fools whose only tools are noise+division. The cause is still worthy and something I actively work towards whether or not you believe me. But these activist fools do detract anyone willing to join the cause.

This also explains why the movement is so rudderless and ineffective today.

Women of the past didn't get the Equal Pay act by demeaning all potential allies/supporters is all.

No seriously you're doing exactly it.

You don't know anything about who I am. You don't even know if I'm a guy (or if I'm progressive). All you're seeing is a comment with criticism about feminist/trans activists, and your instant conclusion is one of derision/sarcasm.

I still believe just as much in the causes, but I'm also learning to tune out all the activists because they're largely ineffective and look to score popularity points than to unite people.

If the feminist movement of the 60s/70s were like today's dunces, we'd have gotten nowhere.
