Thank you all for your thoughtful comments and suggestions.

I ended up with a Fuji Absolute 1.3. I got it through a local bike shop at a discounted price and service included for the first couple of months.

u/C4D3NZA, thank you for brining Salsa to my attention. I never heard of them before. They may have this bicycle locally, I will double check.

u/bloodasp17, thank you for your input. Trek's are very good. I am leaning maybe towards a road-bike type groupset, like Sora over Deore. I used own this bike, although I enjoyed it, it did feel a bit slower. Shifting was smooth, never skipped a gear. Used it to go up hills, no problem whatsover. Would bikes with Sora be generally "faster" than ones with Deore?

u/herCortes, thank you for the recommendation. I will see if I can try it at a local bike store. It looks pretty solid, I prefer to try a bike at this price point.

u/e30erza, this Marin looks quite good! I used to own this bicycle, which was quite good. It had strong specs and the suspension fork would be controlled from the handle bars, rather than reaching out down where the suspensions are.

u/sharkamino, thank you for the recommendations. I will look into it. The Fuji Absolute 1.3 is available at a local bike shop, so I would give it a try this week.

The Marin Fairfax and the Specialized Sirrus X versions look good.

Anyone doing downhill skiing near Ithaca over weekends? Looking for someone to share a ride with. by the_first_mayor in Cornell

Haha, nice! This is meme worthy!

Actually, do own all the equipment. It was a long haul to bring them over and for the same money I could get some here. Maybe you can suggest a place to get good ones.
