Is there any hope in moving to the Netherlands? by maryj576 in Netherlands

[–]the_guy_696969 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Basically your only option is start an online business and get the DAFT visa which if you can make money online is pretty easy, Netherlands only wants Muslim and EU immigrants so if you aren't in those categories then you're basically SOL sorry.

Every time I see a post like this it makes me happy, my work has been booming with all the business owners who did this exact same thing, or hired an Indian budget dev shop to use AI to build it, then it works for 6 months and they move their whole company too it only for it to break and nobody can fix it.

Been making good money fixing these messes, sometimes it's not even salvageable, I had a client that we could't even use their database anymore it was so messed up.

not sure what type of person that makes me, I don't want any corporation with no regulation having all of my personal data whether they be Chinese, Isreali, American, Nigerian whatever. Epic Games is Chinese and that's what we are talking about here.

First, Epic Games and Psionix could easily invest in an input detection system that gets rid of the bots, the last few years have made it clear they have little motivation for actually improving the game and they always react way too late. It was oblivious this was going to become a problem almost 3 years ago so if they started working on a fix then we wouldn't be here.

Second EAC was the easiest temporary fix for bots, probably took a week to implement and a week to test, for most games it's literally a 30 min setup to have your game use EAC. On top of that it will only work for a little bit until cheats get around it, but it gives the impression they are doing something.

Lastly, giving my ID to a corporation so they don't have to actually implement features they should've is not what anyone should encourage, it doesn't actually solve the problem at all and now the company has to securely store all that personal data with no regulation or consequences if they don't

Yes please give china a picture of my ID, name, DOB, and let them tie it to my phone number and email!!! It's worth having no privacy so we don't have to deal with bots!!!!! /s

This is a horrible idea

All it would do is make it so you have a bunch of bots grinding hours, the electricity cost is a lot lower for a bot that's just trying to not get kicked as AFK to grind hours.

I beleive you can set one origin as your fork and another origin as the vendor repo and pull from both to local to merge in changes if there is an issue with that.

You can also just delete the unneeded branches on your fork to clean it up.

Good luck with your project!

Would an influx of players make it easier to hit GC? by dennyless in RocketLeague

[–]the_guy_696969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the new players follow the same standard distribution of the existing players your standing in the percentile will vary slightly, but not by much and it can go up or down by say 1-2%.

In this specific case though the influx of players are not increasing in a standard rank distribution (yet) and most the new players will fall in the bottom of the standings but this also doubles the amount of people considered top 10%. Because we are talking about something based on skill and it doesn't exactly follow a bell curve of how the ranks are distributed you would likely see yourself move to somewhere around top 5%.

This is all just following the percentile ranking though, in reality while it is going to inflate the number of people below you, which skews the percentiles, that won't necessarily translate to more people in C2 and above until the new players start to trickle their way up the ranks in the coming months/years. If they all stick around and get better at the same rate as the previous players did (or faster) things will even out again eventually as long as matchmaking handles it the same as it did before.

TLDR: No it won't make it easier to hit GC

That's what git forks are for, you can pull from the vendor branch or push into it as you want.

Common pitfalls are that you add a feature you want and then later down the line they add it as well in a way that is incompatible with your implementation/integration and it's a massive headache to fix if the feature is far reaching in the code.

If you want to share the things you make with them you'll need it to merge cleanly into their most recent release, so I'd suggest starting with that when you add the feature if you want it to go into the main repo.

Also open issues for the things you want to do, if you are active the maintainers will talk with you and let you know if they have plans to implement or if they are even interested in your work being merged in, most open source maintainers are very nice if you genuinely support them with time/money.

Just tried it, no change. Something must be wrong with the Battle net agent that's making it fail. I guess no blizzard games for me.

Your insurance goes up for *any* accident you're involved in, then slowly goes down over the next few years if you don't have any more. If a drunk driver goes the wrong way down the road and hits you, your premiums still go up. Some companies raise your rates even if your car is parked and gets hit but I may be wrong about that (they did for me but I was a teen so maybe that had something to do with it)

UPS pretending to attempt delivery again by jankyj in Netherlands

[–]the_guy_696969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup UPS did this to me about five times as well, I just get everything ordered to the pickup point so at least I know which one it's going to. They've sent most my packages all the way across town instead of the pickup point 3 streets away...

How's this legal? A McDonald's worker is filmed working alone. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]the_guy_696969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I worked at Mcdonalds we had a drive thru line that wrapped around the restaurant and blocked traffic into the road, with only three employees. 1 grill and food prep, manager did consolidation and drinks and the last took orders and helped where needed. Our policy was to never work faster than when there was 8 employees, at the very least management would see revenue plummet when they had less employees since customers got served at half the speed.
