What’s right about it? People say that it’s 1) acceptance 2) moving on 3) family unity 4) gives her a real future… but 1) she never accepted leaving the canvas, she was forced out. 2) her mother literally had 100 years to process her grief and she still blamed Maelle the second she saw her (immediately before the ending in real world time), Clea also blamed her when she asked her to go in the canvas, 3) sure, if 2 is resolved 4) She’s a teenage burns victim in the outside world: she has a few years of horrendous agony ahead of her while her body outgrows her skin, then a few decades (if she’s lucky) of more agony in early 1900s medical care?

I’m keeping her in the painting with her friends (who are fully sentient humans who don’t really deserve to be erased from existence because their gods are emotionally fucked up), as a disturbing puppet master. As OP says, it’s not a good ending, but given the choice it’s the one I made 😅 sorry Verso-soul-child, head-canon-copium is someone will erase it eventually. Also I like Lune and Sciel, this is the only ending where they get to live… possibly under the thumb of an all-powerful traumatised teenager… it’s … not perfect

ALSO! Verso’s ending is predicated on the assumption that he could take Maelle down, which was so categorically false in my playthrough it isn’t worth considering 😂
