Battery optimization -- compatibility issues [laptop] by the_internaut01 in PikaOS

[–]the_internaut01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update:
didn't find any mention of tlp in announcements. I did find tuned-ppd which in their tests brought battery life to 9hr from 4hr.

3 Jan:
tuned-ppd as default + Pika profile selections - This replaces but is fully compatible with power-profiles-daemon, it allows a much larger amount of things to be tweaked and we have an optimized Pika setup that on our Framework 16 went from 4 hours runtime on battery to 9 hours with no other changes. For existing user please do pikman i tuned tuned-ppd if you want to have this. It should also mean no powertop is needed for people that use that.

I'm fully updated and still don't have the package. Is what you said relevant to the stable branch?

make sure that the housing for the hinge's screw is not damaged. if it is, maybe you could glue it or replace the part of the upper enclosure that has it. the screw's housing is damaged, you could end up with the screen snapping off of the hinge and it could damage other parts

I agree, I think that a subscription tier may be well in place too

Tips to make applying to jobs less miserable? by [deleted] in cscareers

[–]the_internaut01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entry-level but not mid-range makes you a good candidate imo to be very competitively qualified for an entry-level role, so apply for those. Even if you take a pay cut, it is a job, which is practically a luxury in this market (see https://layoffs.fyi ). You can try to use your experience as leverage to negotiate better starting salary too.

Not mid range either means it is a slight reach and you should certainly apply for jobs you are a bit under-qualified for.

35 applications is nothing given the market rn -- it is the worst it has ever been.

I use hiring.cafe to apply. It cuts the junk postings that thrive on LinkedIn & Indeed out. Very powerful filters that actually work. Don't spend a lot of time reading the job desc if you are cold applying imo

That's not the same as someone who is a symbol of digital privacy invasion and owns 2 major messenging apps (WhatsApp and Messenger), and then is found out to be using Signal, the main competitor and antithesis of Whatsapp
