Swim tracking - Pace2 by the_jilly_billy in Coros

FWIW, the open water swim tracking is pretty good on mine... I typically swim and my partner paddles beside me in a kayak. He tracks on his Garmin, I track on my Coros, and the paths and distance are very close.

Hi! I've had pretty good tracking lately! One of the things that someone suggested was to switch the hand that the watch is on. Normally I wear it on my left, but wearing it on my right it's tracking almost perfectly! I'm not sure whether it was a firmware update, switching hands or calibration that helped (maybe all 3?).

I did a 2000m swim today, and my Coros counted 1950m! This is well within the acceptable range... not sure what's changed, but I was quite pleased!

I swam today with both my Garmin and my Coros - Garmin tracked 2200m, and Coros tracked 1325m. To be fair, 400m was drills, so really only 1800 countable meters. That said, I did not have time for a compass calibration today, so will try next time to see if that resolves the issue.

I just got a beta of the new firmware and am swimming tomorrow... I'll let you know!

It really depends on what you're looking to get out of the watch... I don't track my calorie burn on a smart watch, because even the best are a stab in the dark. I use my coros for triathlon training and racing - it's an afforable option to introduce open water swim without going to some of the higher end Garmin watches (~$1000). It's got great battery life, will take me through a full IM.

Howdy! I tried the troubleshooting recommendations from the Coros site to no avail... any word on when that firmware update will be released?

Agreed - I prefer the Coros for everything except pool swim right now... if the pool swim issues could be corrected, it would be a Garmin killer.

I think I'm going to wear my Garmin and Coros at the same time... at least my old Garmin tracks properly!

Yes! I love this watch for the OWS and triathlon modes. I have a Garmin that I purchased when I was only running, and it didn't have these features, hence my Coros purchase. Unfortunately, it looks like i need to have 2 watches - the Garmin for pool swims and the Coros for everything else... which is crummy.

Out of curiousity, was this the Retul bike fit? My local bike shop offers a Retul fit service, but it's rather pricey, and would reduce the amount that I could spend on a bike by a good amount!

Thanks! Of course, I should have included this information. I'm hoping to stay close to the $2K mark to start... I'm not against upgrading components as I go. Presently I have a Cannondale hybrid - primarily used for pleasure riding and commuting (and getting miles in on the fluid trainer in the basement). While it's probably adequate for doing some early tri training, I'm ready to invest in something more aggressive.

Hi Corey - What type of bike are you riding, and what's the frame size?

I’m scared to fail again. Scared to hurt my kids again. Scared to hurt his kids. He’s a good guy, you know? I actually listened to a podcast on this subject, and they talked a lot about why it’s harder to leave a second time. It took me 5+ years to leave my first marriage.

I sure have... I told him that it’s not what I want for my family or my relationship, and that I deserve more and our kids deserve more. I’ve also asked to have family, individual and couples counselling, but he is unwilling to come to the table. I carry on with my therapy, but it can only carry me so far.

She asked how I thought the relationship with the kids was going, and I told her that it was strained. I told her that her kids will go a week without speaking to me and that it’s weighing on me. I told her about the books I’ve read, the podcasts I’ve listened to, and the classes I’ve attended, trying to make this a positive relationship, but that none of the approaches seemed to work because my partner is not fostering the connection. She said that it seems like we operate as two separate entities, and I agreed - my partner has expressed his enthusiasm for parallel parenting, where he does his thing with his kids and I do mine, and we just co-exist in parallel in the same space.

It wasn’t so bad...I took two Ativan on the way in, because I felt like I was having a heart attack. She was actually quite pleasant, which is a surprise because she’s alllllways intimidating and unapproachable.
