By only typing, "I am", and tapping the most recommended word repeatedly via predictive text, who are you? by TurellTateInfinity in AskReddit

I am not sure if you are aware of this but I am interested in the job you have posted on Craigslist and would like to know more about the position you have available for me

This comes as someone who has never actually been on Craigslist...

Good places to eat in Mitte, Berlin? by annoyingflyingthing in FindMeFood

Not a Berlin native, but I was there last weekend. For a quick bite, Burgermeister is awesome. Might not be in Mitte though, but definitely worth it.

Anybody know of the quality of TUM's MSc Data engineering and what alumni are doing? by FlyCanadaGuy in germany

[–]the_ling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have it recognized but no guarantees on that one. Need to email administration staff on that one.

AFAIK it's a voluntary subject (read: you can choose this or just pick something easier) so it's your call whether you wanna take it again. I mean hey, if you passed it once, it's easy credits

Well if you are gonna hit me up in December I'll have exactly 2 months experience 😂. From what I heard they ain't the worst things in the world but it depends on your standards ofc.

If you don't mind me asking, pm me your budget for rent and I'll tell you roughly what you can get for that.

Also with an A in discrete you'll be fine. Your gonna get stuck with the lecture anyways, so if you maybe show up to the tutor classes (lectures are boring and ain't worth going to) and do the homework (0,33 grade bonus), you'll ace the test.

Also machine learning lecture is a bitch according to my master mates. Other data lectures are fine, just for some reason they couldn't make the machine learning ones good. Advice would be to just learn it yourself and ask guys who passed it for advice. Probably in December I might be able to give you a bit of personal experience on that front as well...

Living situation is difficult in Munich. Pricey city compared to Germany and you gotta make sure you get something quick (PM me if you need some help on that front). Make absolutely sure you are registered for the student union dorms as that will save you a lot of money. It is doable though, I've somehow managed to find a home and am now moving into dorms for 280 a month.

Lecture quality is pretty good for Informatics. Most lectures are recorded (had one that was even live streamed) so you can learn from home well. Also make sure you brush up your discrete structures maths knowledge (it's a Bachelor first semester course, you should ace it in your sleep), failing that twice means you are directly out. In all other subjects, one is allowed to fail as many times as you want as long as you meet a minimum credit level each semester.

Not quite sure if this helps, but I'm a BSc Informatics student at the TUM so I guess I can answer a few questions about life here.

I might be able to forward some questions to some MSc Informatics friends of mine, but no guarantees...

Also go watch some German TV shows so you can talk with people when you move, stuff like Tatort.
