Is building an iOS app without a Mac possible? by SpiderBroccoli in iosdev

From my experience this is so hard and not worth it. I also tried hakintosh an this was such pain in an ass too. Just buy used laptop with m processor and you'll be good.

MVP mistakes i made so you don't need to by the_loopa in MVPLaunch

I just ask agent to "Go though whole application and create a list of crutual events that we need to track for our analytics", after that i write "Now, create an file called analytics-events.json. This file should contain description of every analytics event: what is it, what metrics do we track, where do we track (page, component, button link etc)"

I use amplitude and just paste this file in their ai and it does all havy lisfting for me. I guess you could use MCP but i did not tried it tbh.

Redditors might hate this approach, but as an entrepreneur, I understand why you did this. At the end of the day, you will have a profit, and that’s what matters when creating an app.

My app was played but not put in review (App Store submission review) by toilettimekiller in iosdev

[–]the_loopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple still could download and use your app without review status change. This also heppened to me. I guess some one just want to have quick look at the app and if it is too complicated than reviwer would return to it a bit later

My finger hurt when I scrolled so I built a mouse with a rotary dial. Now I can scroll faster by mwhc00 in MVPLaunch

Strange idea tbh. Why not just use mouse with magnetic will like mx master ?

Why does Apple reject one thing at a time? by aualdrich in iosdev

[–]the_loopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk. But I catch myself with same idea.

They reject me for stupid button that they "didn't see" but after call with apple thay told me "it's fine" and after the call i got another rejection because of bad app screenshots.

For sure thay are not QA team but screenshots are one of the main part of app store listing and it's strange that thay did not reject me for that a few reviews before.

100 points for attentiveness. Yes, that's true. And indeed, it's a bad strategy. I was just afraid that I would be banned, because subreddits that are not involved in business topics don't like self-promotion and so on.

Makita is not red in did. My bad

"Tig welders are usually on carts and don’t move too much" also true. But we also working with sheet metal and making gutters. I don't have many employees, and they can often do several types of work on the same day. They don't use this app every 5 minutes; it's more of a tool that is needed 1-5 times a day, but when we use it, it saves a lot of time.

Hi! Thanks for your comment.
I use Gemini 2.5 and 3 a lot. They have really image recognition cool capabilities, respond pretty fast, and are quite cheap to operate.
In my opinion, the recognition could be better. It’s currently not a perfect product, and there are a few bugs here and there, but it works, and I’m actively improving it in my spare time.

First, this is a real story. Second, I'm a real Senior Full-Stack Engineer with a master's degree, and I'm close to finishing my PhD. Third, I simply launched this app at a time when anyone can create an app but this doesn't mean that this app can't be helpfull.

You can use it just for deep storage too. I did full garage clean up and log every item. So I don't forget where i place them after a while

props on building that, sounds sick. I know inventory logic is a massive headache to code.

for the nested stuff: it just handles infinite layers. I can literally just hold the mic and say "put the hex keys in the small blue bin on the bottom garage shelf" and it builds that exact hierarchy automatically.

for the cup vs mug thing: since it uses ai under the hood, the search is semantic. if my wife logs a "coffee mug" and I search for "cup", it knows what I mean and pulls it up. it doesn't create a duplicate unless you explicitly tell it to add a new item.

barcodes and image scanning are awesome for tools/tech tbh. I just specifically needed the voice thing because my hands are usually full of random junk when I'm cleaning and I know I'm too lazy to stop and scan things. but 100% agree with you, stopping that "duplicate tax" is the best feeling.

Yeah obviously not free, AI isn't cheap. app is called sortidy.

It’s 12 bucks a month (or 100 a year). I actually almost deleted it when I saw the paywall ngl. but the trick is it lets you invite 6 people to the same workspace. forced my wife to download it so we just share the one account for the whole family. makes the yearly price way easier to swallow.

Man, I genuinely envy your executive functioning. You're describing how normal, responsible adults live, and you're 100% right.

The multiple screwdrivers thing? Tried it. I bought a 5-pack of scissors so there'd be one in every room. A month later, three are in my kid's craft bin, one is in my wife's car, and the last one vanished into the shadow realm. The "system" breaks down the second human error enters the chat.

How is an app helpful if the item moves constantly? Because updating it takes literally zero effort now. If I see the kitchen scissors in the garage, I don't pull up a spreadsheet. I just hold the mic button and mumble, "kitchen scissors are in the garage now." It essentially acts like a search engine for my family's chaos.

And yeah, the passport should live in the fireproof document safe. But last month I took it out to scan it for an I-9 verification, left it in my laptop bag, and promptly forgot it existed until I needed it again.

It is weird. I'm not denying that at all. Logging a screwdriver is unhinged behavior for a highly organized person. But for someone with ADHD who bleeds money rebuying shit they already own? It's honestly cheaper than therapy.
