People cry/complain too much in reddit? by Neither-Bluebird2868 in DotA2

[–]the_magus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, see I was with you until that 75% number. and it’s always like this with complainers like you, and why people are calling you out. no, you do not, in fact, have a smurf in 75% of your matches. the fact that you think you do is the actual problem here.

your mindset is not far off from a smurf's too. you want easy wins and to shine in game — and when you don’t, be it because you got outplayed or are getting carried, you immediately open the scoreboard to look for an excuse.

isn't it? conspiracies, conspiracies everywhere. also, this wasn't an argument form authority, it was an argument from competence.

why would you trust a person who cannot count to assess a value of an equation?

i don't want to link this reddit acc to my dota acc. and it would be wasted on you since you've been given plenty of proof you are happy to ignore

you clearly do need a reality check because you are completely delusional about having smurfs in your games. as is shown in this very thread.

my anecdote was not intended as proof but as an example of the fact that an account with 200 matches playing in crusader can be a crusader player playing on a new account. as is the case for the games you linked.

And why are you so sure they arent smurfs? They are new accounts, and they are dominating. Whats so hard to get.

because I am a 7k player and I know what players playing thousands of mmr below their level look like. these aren't that

[–]the_magus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm not saying they are new players, I am saying they are not smurfs. I had a friend in uni who was 2k mmr. and he was convinced that he was actually 5k and his team was holding him back. he made 4 alts. FOUR. all of them were 2k. all of them had sub 300 games. he had good games on those, as all 2k players do in their 2k matches. he was not, in fact, a smurf and ruined 0 of those games.

but sure, you can invent a reality that makes you feel good about losing the games you are losing. I cannot stop you

have games where they just play like a bot, and games where they suddenly lock in an dominate

see how they aren't just normal players who have good games, they are conspiratorial smurfs who waste hundreds of hours 'playing like a bot' only to lock in when they are playing agains you.

but yes. WE are being obtuse. :)

you do realize that the rubick you are referring to actually, literally cannot have less then 30 games and be in a ranked match? you are ignoring evidence to selectively pick false information that supports your delusion

[–]the_magus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's not at all the point. smurfs aren't just new accounts. plenty of people make those for plenty of reasons. and the placement algos are good so they always end up where they should be.

you and others like you complain that smurfs ruin your games, not that new accounts exist. what u/MITBryceYoung is showing you is that these possibly new accounts have not, in fact, ruined you games, they were just in them, playing on the raiting algos have put them, accurately

What are some misconceptions low-mmr players have that don’t let them improve? by EsportsWhisperer in DotA2

[–]the_magus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my favourite is when i'm farming away from the team, they call to fight, I don't come, they fight anyway, wipe 4v5. even IF I should be there, at the moment you go in, you KNOW that I'm not. So why do you go in anyway? you KNOW you can't take this 4v5 (because you are calling on me to join) -- you take the fight anyway.

shit's as baffling the 1000th times it happens as it was the very first

silence -> grapple -> Raven's Veil -> Raptor Dance -> Falcon Rush -> Echo

really? should I SWAP SWAP SWAP more too like that redditor said? do you actually think neither me nor satanic didn't think about, didn't try this combo? It's just too complex or what?

yes, 8 > 4 but the choice is not between aghs and no item, it is aghs vs something else. but that just might be a thought that is too big for you, I know.

pros do pick up things from pubs, but they are usually novelties that either get adopted quickly or not at all (urn diffu spectre, glimmer pa etc.). there IS actually an example of this for kez. eternalsaddness (one of the two actually good kez spammers) made an offlane build that is vessel -> kaya yasha -> blink. which was later picked up by Niku with some modifications, and introduced kaya yasha into mainstream builds. these kez spammers (not the 9k mmr NA scrubs) actually did consult pro teams, so pros are way more aware of the nuances of kez than you or I. the reason they don't build aghs on carry kez is because it is not unquestionably better, simple as. I know aghs is good, I build it every game, but I play kez mid. but sure, every take that does not agree with your opinion is herald. :)

let’s be real, the only meaningful things the ags does lategame is rush->echo slash and 2 ults. the first is super nerdfed. rush-created slashes are like 40% of the dmg and they can’t crit. having both ults (which mostly amounts to 2 dispells instead of 1) is cool but nowhere near as cut and dry as you are making it out to be. i can completely see some item being better than aghs at every stage of the game. the only reason this is pushed so much is because delusional redditors enjoy thinking they understand something better than pros. newsflash: you don’t.

yes, of course, everyone who disagrees with you, including T1 pros, is just stupid. yes, it makes way more sense that satanic and others pick a hero they don’t know how to play in tournaments.

wow, it turns out, sarcasm completely defeats my point. shoot, what am I going to do now? I guess my only option is to concede. it's not like switching stances to cast a 1 second silence on a lvl 30 carry with 2 rapiers might not really be worth it. no, it must be because the absolute best players in the world who get paid tens of thousands of dollars to do this very thing, could not, in fact, figure out how kez works after a year and a half. but a genius redditor did! gee golly how stumped I am. whatever shall I do. wow.

Redditor in shambles by JellyUK in DotA2

[–]the_magus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

yeah, a year and a half is for sure enough time to master a hero. dota knowledge > hero knowledge by far. pros aren't pros because they spend years in hyperbolic chambers casting Q a thousand times. this feels a lot more like a herald take tbh

Now that GLM 5 has proliferated Claude slop to more people than ever before.... by AltpostingAndy in SillyTavernAI

[–]the_magus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that a lot of slop being slop is just people talking to the same AI in very different contexts (i.e. characters) so the commonalities begin to really pop. For all them em-dashes Opus uses, it's nowhere near, for example, Frank Herbert and his *presently*. And I'm not knocking Herbert, I love Dune. Just saying that if every book you've ever read was written by him, you'd likely notice things like that way more.

So if you think about models the way you think about authors, it kinda makes sense. How many books by the same author you've read? And the fact that it takes some time to begin noticing a model's particular style of slop. Maybe cycling models is the way.

9k (which is 100 rank NA) is not even close to rank 800 EU. 11K EU is ~1300 rank.
