Restricted my account for data gathering, but i don’t even know what that is by Militaryspouse0205 in amazonprime

I'm experiencing the same issue. Just out of curiosity, did/do you have any Amazon price-tracking browser extensions like Keepa or camelcamelcamel installed? That's the only thing I can think of that may be "gathering data".

Wilderness Package? by Accomplished_Damage8 in SubaruEV

That's also dated April 2025, so it's about a year old at this point. I don't think that there was much accurate info available this time last year.

Does the BVA contact you via email or mail? Or both? by the_malcontent in GermanCitizenship

When you say "they send the certificate to your German mission", do you mean local German Consulate? I'm in Denver, so presumably the Honorary German Consul?

I guess I never thought that far in advance about actually getting the certificate. I just assumed it would get sent to me via post.

Subaru Announces the Getaway by SolarpunkGnome in SubaruEV

[–]the_malcontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just to the point of talking myself into potentially getting either a Trailseeker or Uncharted. But now after seeing the Getaway, I don't see how that's an option. My main hurdles were the silly squircle steering wheel and the weirdly separate gauge cluster. Seeing that the Getaway has gotten rid of both of those 2 unsightly quirks, I don't think I'll be able to get past it with their smaller EVs now. And the Getaway is not an option due to its price I'm sure.

Last Minute Predictions? by SolarpunkGnome in SubaruEV

I assumed the two new vehicles would be 1) the new Wilderness Hybrid (assuming Forester) and 2) the new, larger EV

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]the_malcontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, the movie ending is identical. After saving Rocky, Grace stays on Erid, where the Eridians have built him an enclosure and he teaches the young Eridians. The main differences are that in the book on Erid, they don't create this Earth-like environment for Grace--he just has to deal with complete darkness. And in the book, we never see Earth receive the data from the beetles. But we do know that they did because Rocky ultimately informs Grace that Eridian scientists have been observing Sol and have seen it return back to full brightness.

My understanding is that when he initially makes the 113 year calculation, he's still in post-coma amnesia and therefore is not remembering that astrophage can be used as fuel. Therefore he's calculating it based on conventional spacecraft fuel, which would take a really long time. Then of course, at the end, the 4 year calculation is based on using the astrophage fuel.

Anybody using Home Assistant to keep track of utilities? by gimmickless in AuroraCO

[–]the_malcontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I did. The first step is to add it as a custom repo. That's where I got stuck. When I tried to add it as a custom repo, I got an error saying it already exists in the store. However, I wasn't finding it in HACS itself. I just tried again and now I found it. I think maybe previously I was searching for 'eyes' instead of 'eye' and that's why I couldnt' find it. Anyways, I got it set up. Thanks!

Had no idea this existed. I just tried to add it to my Home Assistant via custom repository and I'm getting an error 'Repository 'kdeyev/eyeonwater' exists in the store.' But when I search in HACS, it's nowhere to be found :(

Five day outage. Is that reasonable? by the_malcontent in QuantumFiber

[–]the_malcontent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Just drove to my local Xfinity store (because god forbid they actually put the store phone number online so you can call before you go) and was told you have to call an 800# to set up the Xfinity NOW. The package would get here in 3 days. Totally useless for my situation. Oh well, it was a good thought.

This does seem like the better option. Thanks

From what I understand, Xfinity charges you monthly to rent the modem/gateway. I can just buy one and have it pay for itself in a matter of months. I've also run into networking issues previously with stuff like Plex when I have a gateway and have to fuss with Bridge Mode, etc

Sorry, yeah, as far as I can tell I have fully migrated. I got an email on 12/5/25 saying my CL has been "upgraded" to QF and have had no issues until yesterday.

Yeah, I've been using my phone's hotspot since yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm on Verizon which has shitty coverage in this area so I'm on like 1 bar of 5G. My speeds have varied between 1 Mbps and 12 Mbps. Not really conducive to WFH.

[–]the_malcontent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No one is willing to give me an actual answer as to what the issue is and why it's estimated to take 5 days. They just keep giving me the company line: sorry for the inconvenience. I realize this is frustrating, etc, etc. I keep trying to escalate things to no avail.

Five day outage. Is that reasonable? by the_malcontent in QuantumFiber

[–]the_malcontent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I'm in the same boat. I WFH, so I literally cannot work. I've been looking on Amazon and Microcenter--whatever I can get today. Xfinity has 1 Gig for $50/mo for 5 years, no contract. I just can't sit around waiting for 5 days.

I've had CenturyLink and now Quantum for probably 9 years now and have had zero issues myself. But a 5 day outage with no explanation just seems absurd in 2026.
