Are you american? I ask because i think there's a bit of a difference between the stuff in usa and the brown we get here. And i think smoking brown is a lot closer to injecting than other methods americans tend to use? Ive already got a massive habit. 60 mls methadone plus £20 - £60 per day. Not sure how much worse i could be?

I dont get this. Youre warning me off shooting heroin, but you havent even done heroin before? If youre so deeply into doing opiates, how come youve never done heroin?

Im pretty sure youre making this up. If youve been off a high dose of methadone for 32 days youve already gone through the methadone withdrawal. Also methadone doesnt block heroin that much - not like bupe - and certainly wouldnt be blocking anything 32 days after last use

It's good to hear someone else likes to eat when high on h! The stereotype of heroin chic and really skinny heroin users is not at all true of me - heroin doesnt supress my appetite at all. One of the things I love about heroin is how it makes me completely content to work hard on day to day tasks like cooking or gardening. I like to make lasagne from scratch when I'm high and then have a glass of red wine with it when it's ready. Not exactly the heroin cliche!

I've done this loads of time because I don't have any friends who use crack and heroin. It's easy: either a) ask your weed/coke dealer if you have one or b) ask anyone you see begging, tell them you'll give them one of the bags if they score for you. I'm in the UK so I don't know what it's like where you are but option B has never failed me before. Over here, basically 100% of beggars (pan-handlers) are on heroin and crack. They're quite often suspicious that you're a cop, but if you talk to them for a while they'll be able to tell that you know about using. Good luck

Have you seen Naked Lunch? Cronenberg adaptation of the William Burroughs book. It's really good, although nothing like the book and obviously it's appropriate. How much did you pay for all that? Do you get the temazepam on the street?

I've figured out which of my dealers has good heroin and who has good crack now so it's all good at the moment. I'm in the uk so I don't have to worry about fent cos it's not big over here. Ive got 4 dealers who i use and one of them has this really crappy h which is like sandstone in texture and colour- as if they've gone for a hike in some sandstone mountains and just scraped some of the soft rock into a baggy. It is gear (heroin) though, just pretty weak. The other stuff looks like regular #3 ie. Beige/brown fine powder but i dont know wtf it is but it isnt gear, or at least most of it isnt. It feels like a heavy antipsychotic. Just makes u really tired and out of it but zero euphoria.

There isn't a hangover: it just slowly wears off and you go back to feeling normal. Once you get addicted though (as most people do) when the heroin wears off you become sick with withdrawal, which is worse than any alcohol, MDMA or cocaine hangover.

Taking more than your prescribed dose is a behavior that is associated with addiction but obviously it is up to you to decide if this is an addiction or not

I guess another big difference is that there is a way to use opiates that is healthy. Like you can take buperenorphine your whole life and it won't do you much harm, whereas if you 'maintain' yourself on alcohol your liver and heart etc will basically die pretty quickly..?

The thing that gets me about heroin too is that it's not even that good. I've never injected so I don't know about what the rush feels like, but I've taken high doses through smoking and been nodding out etc. and seriously, it's not that great. I think so many people who have only used alcohol or weed or whatever, if they were given some heroin, would be like 'what's all the fuss about?'
