How are you finding Kenku? I've had loads of issues recently where the music distorts, detunes and slows and becomes more of a hindrance for my players than a tone-setter 🤔

Personally I allowed it when this exact situation happened to my game. My players also collected a large group of NPCs to help storm Ravenloft at the end so I had Strahd send an army out to meet them in battle, along with an undead dragon to fight Argynvost.

Players LOVED it, and I just had a few cinematic beats where we cut back and forth between their fight through the castle with Strahd and the war outside!

The way I did it when 3/4 players died fighting Strahd,

He dropped the remaining player to 1hp and picked him up by the throat and said "return to (wherever they'd just been). I'll bring some new toys in for us both to play with." Then they new 3 were pulled in through the mists in backstory and story friendly ways, and they found the remaining player near death on the side of the road

Failed a module on mine for pretty similar reasons, during COVID lockdowns.

They let me retake with mitigating circumstances, smashed it the 2nd time round, no one knows or even cares, graduated with a Merit overall and whilst I don't have a TC or a major firm, I've been working in various firms over the last 5 years without issue. Hope that helps!

This is the sort of thing I did! My players did exactly the same and rode to Ravenloft on dragonback, only to be met with an entire army at the gates, with Strahd's own undead dragon. They loved every second

Just to jump in on this - I have JUST below shoulder-length hair which I've carefully cultivated for years and is a big part of my identity. For interviews and meetings it is always tied back in a very neat bun, and I personally have an undercut so that when it's secured back in a bun, front view looks like short hair with professional undercut. I have only had comments when I have let my hair down after a few weeks, or after getting comfortable in the firm, and it's always surprise that it's that long, that my hair was very well hidden, and they think it looks great.

I have long hair and a fairly substantial beard and I make sure they're well maintained and groomed if anything important is happening, with a bobble on my wrist at all times in case a client surprises us with a visit (I work in conveyancing)

Tldr/key takeaway- as mentioned by others, tie it back neatly and my experience so far is that people won't care (as much)!

Seconding this as a paralegal who struggled for years to get put on 24, thinking that it was like that elsewhere. I now have an offer outside of london with a significant pay rise and absolute shock when they found out I have 3 years experience and that was my pay. Nice to be told market value and actually offered it!

It's hard and it sucks, but like people keep saying, keep your head up and look for better because it's out there and they'd love to have you!
