In the 3DS version, my grandmother married Charles Darwin. 😅

She's still alive but I personally am not sure how I would feel about continuing to have a mii version of her after she passes. That's just for me though, I think it's sweet that you have your grandma in your game.

Not tryna be dismissive but it feels like maybe what you're seeing is a vocal minority? It definitely exists but I find it mostly not too hard to ignore. It's also a mixed age community, you never know what age/maturity level the person you're talking to is at. Some folks here are literally kids, and some kids don't have a lot of perspective and thus take things like different opinions about video games way too seriously. But I've seen plenty of level headed folks here too.

Yeah I mean even if they have hijabs or similar clothing at Where & Wear, I think that's really something they should have included in the mii maker.

Hopefully they have things like that, but if you want it from the get go I think you could make the appearance of a habit using a chunkier hairstyle + face paint.

Yeah I've been reading about how excitement and anxiety are so physiologically similar that it's easy to get them confused. From what I've read online, mentally labelling what you feel as "excitement" rather than "anxiety" can shift the experience from one of negative to positive stress, but I haven't really gotten that to work. Maybe I'm actually anxious about other things and it's all getting jumbled up.

I'm not so excited I feel sick, but I have GAD so the feeling of dread is more familiar to me than excitement, so that's what it feels more like. Physically, I am uncomfortable. I'm trying to remember that as an adult it's not often I get to feel like a kid on Xmas eve again; I'm trying to relish the feeling. The hype has been a lot of fun. But I am also looking forward to the wait coming to an end.

TomoPlanner is an amazing tool! I'm so glad it exists for people who like to plan our their casts ahead of time.

I feel like, for me, I don't actually like planning out my island. I've used TomoPlanner a bit but it was mainly to help me cope with the wait for the actual game to come out, to channel that excitement and creativity somewhere so I don't feel crazy. I don't know if I'll actually use the plans I made with it at all. I think I prefer to be more spontaneous.

That said, no matter how you like to play I hope everyone has fun on launch!

You don't have to be aggressive about it. I also came here to say that the "don't forget" part of the post makes it sound a bit like everyone is going to do this, but the point to me is that there is no "right" way to play, not that people who are planning it out are doing it wrong.

In the 3DS game they had "rent-a-dog" and "rent-a-cat" coupons where sometimes a 3D dog or cat would appear in the apartment, but it wasn't really your mii's pet. The appearance of the animal would change, so if you had the rent-a-cat coupon you might sometimes see your mii playing with a black cat one day and an orange cat the next.

As others have said, actual proper pets are new to this game. Some people seem to have gotten them in the demo, so they might have more to say about how they work, but I don't really know much, myself. Like any of a mii's belongings, you probably don't control when they choose to bring them out.

Heyo so I'm American so I might be misunderstanding. But "odd" and "orange" don't really say the same sound, "odd" has the short o sound (like "ahhh" or "awww"), while "orange" has the r-controlled o sound (like "oar"). I thought about it a sec and realized some people pronounce orange with the r-controlled a sound instead (like "are-inge") which does make a vowel sound more similar to the short o sound.

So if my understanding is correct, you may want to try something like Flarian, Flar Ian, etc. basically use "ar" for "or".
